  1. hi steve many thanks for posting, very helpful reply. does kerry come on here at all? it does sound do-able then. i'm going to create a shopping list and do a bit of pricing up i think. will no doubt be back with more questions thanks again steve
  2. hi all been considering an engine change but not really sure what i want, hence why i am here looking for advice and experience! i've read in the hoody magazines that some people are attempting to or have already fitted a z20let to thier hoods. i've got a vx220 with a z20let in, so i know the engine fairly well having spent many days laid underneath the thing. i also know theyre very capable engines and will take 300bhp on standard internals which sounds about right for me. so ive got a few quations regarding fitment to a 2b how does it mate to a type 9 box? are bellhousings available? what clutch and flywheel do you use? what inlet manifold do you use, is the standard one ok? do you have decent sump clearance? changing to fuel injection shouldnt be a problem, will use megasquirt, i'll be able to fabricate engine mounts, turbo downpipe and so on. sooooo, apart from the above questions, any feedback whatsoever on the conversion, or links to other websites would be greatly appreciated! thanks, steve
  3. i may be looking at a similar change in 2013 so will be interested. for reference could we also post up part numbers or product numbers etc thanks, steve
  4. i dont think theyre that expensive from gbs however, as mentioned, they arent a straight fit and will need modding. put a wanted ad up on here, someone might have some spare
  5. great project lots of pictures, measurements and details please im pretty sure that one day it'll come in handy for me cheers, steve
  6. awesome thanks very much! steve
  7. hi all nice quick, easy question... i've put my 2b in storage so i dont have access to it until i take it out in a month or twos time. while ive got the time and space i'd like to make a few bits for it, but i cant remember what diameter tube the chassis is made from 38mm rings a bell, but so does 40mm just the regular tube size, not the roll over bar please thanks, steve
  8. where abouts in north yorkshire are you? i made mine for some 4mm stainless plate and two exhaust u clamps, similar to the colin usher one, but much thicker material
  9. no need to have anything sticking out of the bonnet see my thread here if you're after more power i'd go down the zetec route. supercharging a pinto isnt straightforward, especially on bike carbs. kinda wish i'd just gone for a zetec instead of messing about with a pinto! i reckon if you made good use of ebay and owners clubs you could re-build a pinto to a pretty decent spec for under £500 thanks for the advice chaps, but i think grizzly has sorted me out with an engine cheers, steve
  10. well i guess i'd be happy with a non 205 in that case! adjusting the CR wont be a problem, if i get 7.5:1 then i'll get a thin head gasket (felpro) and probably skim the block/head to to make up the difference i'm about as tight as they come, so the idea of this little project is to make reasonable power without spending too much. forged pistons would be the ideal for this, but theyre a bit out of my budget. i cant imagine my supercharger making much more than 10psi anyway with the pulley i've machined for it thanks, steve
  11. if you have room for it theres nothing wrong with the standard pinto viscous fan really - and much cheaper
  12. thanks dan i'll pm him paul, i'm after about 200bhp, not too fussed really as long as its good, reliable power. reason why i need another standard bore engine is; my current engine is +1mm bore i managed to get hold of some standard bore cossie pistons and rods for next to nothing would also be nice to bench build the engine and supercharger while the hood still has its current engine in so a standard bore 205 pinto is a must really... but they are very thin on the ground these days!
  13. hi all planning on getting back on with the supercharged pinto project this winter soooo... im after a 205 blocked standard bore pinto engine (i dont need the head but will take it if you dont want to split) as already said, it must be standard bore with a good bit of life left in it. more complete the betterer dont mind driving an hour or two for a goodun beer tokens waiting cheers, steve
  14. how come you cant fit a 1.6 zetec filter? on the 2.0 blacktop, a common mod was to fit the filter off a 1.6 cvh as it was a lot shorter. you must be careful when changing oil filters for diferent ones though. some filters dont flow as much as others and can cause oil starvation = not good
  15. something along these lines http://www.burtonpower.com/parts-by-brand/brands-o-to-p/pipercross/all-pipercross-parts/pipercross-kk300-air-filter-element-65mm-high-c302d.html
  16. pipercross do a foam filter. so i has a alu basplate with a foam "dome" over it. sits at 1" high maybe. i had one about 5/6 years ago no issues with bonnet clearance there... i'll see if i can dig out a link
  17. seems a very good price, with plenty of pictures to evidence the work glwts
  18. coming from a vx220 owner i could recommend one i have the 2.0 turbo, which goes like stink but is a bit more than youre budget, but you can get a 2.2 which isnt much slower for about £5k a good cross between production and kit car worth a look anyway

    Cosworth Hubs

as long as theyre not 4wd (doesnt look like they are) theyll be fine
  20. steve_wilson

    Cuts Out

1.5 psi is too low for bike carbs 2.5 psi is more the number i think
  21. i could also do with knowing this i have one and need another thanks, steve
  22. i have brembos on mine off a mk1 focus rs 324mm discs and 4 pot calipers, fairly over braked, but i got them for peanuts so why not? not a recent photo but:
  23. ive seen that done somewhere before, cant remember where it was though, might have been someone on passionford it worked anyway, and was fairly compact
  24. you might be able to turn the turbo round on the flange though? never played with turbos so just thinking out loud really
  25. would be a tight fit, especially in a zero. could be worth a shot though, you might be able to fiddle it to fit. alternativly i have a cvh to zetec exhaust adaptor plate, 15mm thick mild steel. was gunna use on my blacktop mk4 escort, but eneded up just buying a speicifc manifold for it i paid £30, its yours for £15 plus postage if you want it cheers
