  1. A nice shiny new toolbox as missus fed up of tools in every drawer in the house.
  2. Quick mock up of dash, gauges look OK but you can tell they aren't Smiths!! Maybe if funds are available later I may upgrade them (£800 for a set was a little steep at the moment). Going to get the surround Hydro dipped in a gold/black carbon fibre effect
  3. Gone with mild steel (thanks to Dan for doing the CAD work), getting that and a few other bits water jet cut (£40) and ive another mate who does hydro dipping so that's going to be finish. Just need to decide what pattern I'm also going to re trim entire dash in leather with a thin neoprene foam layer underneath. I promise pics will follow!!
  4. Thanks brumster, will keep your offer in mind
  5. Hi all About to start my main winter project and redesign the dash on my Super Spec, I have finalized the design (I think!!) but Im wondering what material to use. It will be fixed over the current dash as on the super spec the dash and scuttle seem to be all one piece and dont fancy taking it all apart. My current choices are Aluminium, Stainless Steel or ABS plastic if there something better please do say, so what is best and how thick do I go and also whats best to cut chosen media. I have thought of laser or waterjet cutting as I may be able to get this done by a friend of a friend but my design is on paper and not a CAD design
  6. Yeah or if you get a 2 way adaptor you can have the oil pressure switch/light and the gauge
  7. Looks like you get the sender as well (large round brass thing in pic), It's electronic sender not mechanical so you only need a wire rather than a capillary tube with the oil in. I assume thread sizes are standard
  8. I haven't bought them yet but probably going to give the ones from china a go, £150 for all is wortg a go and they say they will match my sender units ohm range
  9. You would think there would be loads!! I've had some luck with online scrappys, a few sites will do the leg work for you and check around country.
  10. Just done a quick google as well and there are some skoda fabia 1.4 tdi hoses on ebay (used) cant get link to work but i searched for skoda fabia 1.4tdi cooling and theres a set in Latvia there seems to be 2 1.4tdi engines a 51kw/70HP or 59kw/80HP, the 80HP one also fits the 1.9tdi (according to google!!)
  11. I bought the lidl one yesterday and I'm pretty sure it only charges via the mains
  12. Ooh been looking for something like this
  13. Thanks Dave, do you know what make they are and any idea how much your after
  14. Thanks Moog only thing that worrys me about 2nd hand gauges is maybe having to match sensors to the gauges but do you have pics? Nelmo I think the gps sensor is included and fits on scuttle top nr windscreen. I'm going to give the USA ones a miss
  15. Thanks nelmo, I'm probably gonna risk it and as you say they are getting better and its not to much to loose if it all goes t*ts up. And alot of stuff is probably made in China or at least the components are. And I think I can get the temp gauge made to match the sender already in the tank
  16. I know I'm probably going to get some flak but wondering if anyone has had experience with the gauges you see on ebay? I'm looking to remodel my dash over the winter but don't think I can persuade the wife £400-£500 is an acceptable amount so ive been looking at some chinese ones or the "dolphin/shark" ones from USA. Nice comments only please This is ebay link (I think) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-Gauge-set-with-senders-Speedometer-Tacho-Fuel-Temperature-Volt-Oil-pressure-/223016484636 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DOLPHIN-6-METRIC-MECHANICAL-STREET-ROD-GAUGE-SET-STREET-ROD-HOT-ROD-UNIVERSAL-/312107618700
