  1. Great club, Ken has helped me out numerous times
  2. Hi Bob & Mo Thanks very much, Liz and I would love to come along, and also meet up and join the Kent convoy. Will be bringing the motor home so one camping spot please and no need for the B&B Thanks again and hope to see you all at Stoneleigh. Cheers John & Liz
  3. Hi Eugene I built a 2B Plus with a 2L Zetec engine, have a look at my website it may give you some ideas. http://www.johnskitcar.com
  4. I agree the examiner will look more kindly on a well presented car than not. I chose to vinyl wrap my 2B, went well but a word of warning, I did buy a less expensive vinyl and not 3M which is pricey. I had looked on You Tube and it looked easy using 3M but not easy when I used 'Star Vinyl' However the final result is not bad. Have a look at my web site http://www.johnskitcar.com Tab 6 The Build and drop down to Vinyl wrap Hope this helps and good luck with the IVA John
  5. That's why you shouldn't SORN the car over winter, you never know what the weather is going to do, as unfortunately they found out in the North.
  6. Of course gravity increases with time, that's why I keep finding it more difficult to get out of my chair.

  9. Hi Neil, would like to see some pics when fitted, sounds like just what I'm looking for, approx what was the cost Cheers John
  10. Think I will get longer bolts and put nylocs on mine, just to be safe, didn't like Ian's photo, the car not Ian.
  11. Congratulations Colin, Great result Hope your registration doesn't take as long as mine did, passed the retest on 19th August and sent the paperwork in the post the following day, received the V5C on the 18th September. In their defense though it was at the time of the new registrations coming out.
  12. I've got a prop shaft in my garage, free to any Rhocar member to collect, Gilingham Kent.
  13. Good point but I can't ever see me getting to the point where I say, that's it all done now, finished. Now looking to make side wind deflectors, half doors, fit mud flaps and look at a hood for wet weather . So still lots to do.
  14. Thought it was about time I updated my website to include the IVA pass. http://www.johnskitcar.com As anyone with a blog or website knows it is very time consuming and like the car never finally finished. Well now up to date with a few more pics in the gallery and a write up about the IVA. While on the site I checked how many hits the site had and surprisingly since Jan 2012 I have had 13,848 with 54,296 page reads. Not bad for a site that browsers just stumble across or find via RHOCAR.
  15. Hi Dave I recently changed my front wishbones, couldn't get self centering, so bought the upgrade kit which moves the castor backwards and solved the problem for the IVA, bit pricey though.. I've still got the old upper wishbones with bushes and dummy struts but not the lower wishbone if you are interested. Awesome work by the way. John http://www.johnskitcar.com
  16. This pic may also help, It shows the inner drivers side mount
  17. I should have pointed out that if you use the outer mounting point as the guide to where to position your inner mount points then they will be too far forward. my 2B failed on the lower mounting positions being too far forward which would allow "submarining" in the event of an accident i.e. you will slide under the belt. I had to reposition the mounts further back, pics attached, it then passed no problems. Hope I explained this clearly.
  18. Take a look at web site johnskitcar.com For some reason the link is not working Go to the build tab and then drop down to seat and seat belt mounts. This should give you some ideas.
  19. To get the car through its IVA i fitted the Sierra steering wheel always with the intention of fitting a more in keeping wheel once it had passed. Well it passed last August and as it was my birthday this week so my sons offered to buy me a new steering wheel as my present. Today we drove the hood to Rally Design only some 27 miles from where we live, it was dry day and a good run. We were unsure if we wanted a 320mm or 350mm diameter wheel, Rally Design were good enough to let us take each wheel out to the car park and offer each one up to see which allowed best view of the dials and felt right. We settled for the 320mm, and as you can see from the picture it’s all fitted, well pleased. Took the long route home, now starting to reap the joys of my long long build.
  20. I just got my 2B through the IVA with side repeaters on the cycle wings and no problem with the cable fouling the suspension. I clipped it to the cycle wing frame and then looped to the bodywork, noting enough slack in cable, no issues with the examiner, and he was certainly looking for failure points.
  21. Ref the start date, on the MOT certificate for my motor home it states; "To preserve the anniversary of the expiry date, the earliest you can present your vehicle for test is 19th August 2016". It actually expires 18th September 2016, so I make that a month before that you can have the vehicle MOT'd Or do you mean if it fails only and then retest from that date
  22. I've got a pair of 7" chrome headlamps for sale complete with sealed main and dipped beam units. However there are no mounting threads or spherical mount. Would suit someone with chrome bowls that are tarnished or need new sealed beams. Looking for £25 plus a tenner to post. Cheers John
