    West Mids Meet

If you sign up here: http://www.tobycarve...oventry/signup/ with your e-mail address you get a voucher to print off which gets you 2 carverys for a tenner. Terms and Conditions apply but it looks like these will be ok to use on the night.
  2. Maybe all that will change when the club is re-branded and hopefully GBS and its representatives will make their association to the factory more obvious (like having some information in their post signature). Currently, if they were to make posts suggesting that people contact GBS for information or parts, people wouldn't necessarily understand that they've got a commercial interest in the company.
  3. I've given up rising to to any baiting (intended or otherwise) in posts from community members. 5 members have responded so far say what great value membership is, however they shouldn't have bothered as Lowlife is exercising his right not to join. If people can come on here, see what goes on and don't see the benefits of paying £15 to be a club member then I think we're better off without them. If they feel that they're villified or abused for questioning why they should join then maybe that's because these threads are old ground, cover nothing new and add nothing to the forum. I'm getting bored with seeing club members wasting their time justifying why they're members to people who are happy to come here for a free ride. The forum hasn't been heavily restricted to non-club members because it was a committee decision not to do so - I don't agree with the decision but I accept it because that's how thing work and I'm still very happy to be a member. However what I would like to see ist non-members that come here just for the free information do only that and try to avoid stirring things up (possibly just for the sake of it). This point isn't aimed directly at Lowlife, it's aimed any anyone else who thinks they've got a whole 5hit load more nothingness they want to add to the discussion.
  4. Lesson 1: * U.S. Tax revenue: $ 2,170,000,000,000 * Fed budget: $ 3,820,000,000,000 * New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000 * National debt: $ 14,271,000,000,000 * Recent budget cuts: $ 38,500,000,000 Let's now remove 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget: * Annual family income: $ 21,700 * Money the family spent: $ 38,200 * New debt on the credit card: $ 16,500 * Outstanding balance on the credit card: $ 142,710 * Total budget cuts so far: $ 38.50 Got It ??..... OK now, Lesson 2: Here's another way to look at the Debt Ceiling: Let's say, You come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup in your street ...and your home has sewage all the way up to your ceiling. What do you think you should do ... Raise the ceiling or remove the 5hit?
  5. Did some final fettling of the CAD data for the front bumper of the next MG (out later this year). Went home and started decorating the study so the missus can use it for her crafting and cardmaking. Rounded off the day by placing an order with CBS for a 'few bits and pieces' that came to over £200! Sadly the decorating will keep me busy every night this week but at least I've then got the whole weekend free to get in the garage and crack on with the hardtop for my 2B
  6. Check the valve timing and also check that the firing order is correct. Check the the carb floats are free and are set to the correct levels.

    Hot Coil

Do I win a prize? Glad you've got it sorted, sometimes these things can be very difficult to track down.

    Diff Mounting

I can't see what the benefit would be, the small difference in NVH that it would make would be insignificant compared to the rest of the noise on the car. The only reason car manufacturers use rubber mounts is to reduce NVH and to allow compliant movement between components - as the diff doesn't need to move relative to the chassis why bother?
  9. Wilkinsons (Wilkos) do 5 litres of 20/50 for under a tenner.

    Condenser?

    Hot Coil

Are you sure the replacement coil isn't designed for a ballasted system, If it is, you'll be running 12v througha coil designed to take 6 to 9 volts and it's going to get hot and start to break down..
  13. Look on Ebay at completed listings for 38DGAS to see what they're fetching in there, that'll give you a going in point and then add a bit for the K&N and the airbox. Anyone, on any forum, who's after one will still look on Ebay so it's probably best sold there. It looks nice and tidy and the 38DGAS is a sought after carb, not just for pintos. If it was me selling, I'd have a punt around £125 and see if you get any interest.

    Malt Shovel

No, Christmas meal is January - you've peaked too early (a bit like some chav round the corner from me who's already got all their Christmas light up on on).

    Malt Shovel

It's the Coventry, Warks and West Midlands area meeting and it's here: Malt Shovel Pub, Coventry Road, Nr Stonebridge, Coventry, CV7 7HL http://maps.google.c...ed Kingdom&z=15 Entrance to pub car park is off the A452 Chester Road heading North 50 yards from the island
  16. You can try and book the DVLA for the same day but some offices will only book inspections when you present them with your MAC certificate.
  17. I'm confused???? The thread title sounds like an offer of information but the post looks like a (not very thinly veiled) wanted ad.
  18. Peugot 405 QH QS972S is you want to get them from a motor factors.

    Pinto Head Bolts

They're either spline or Torx, the two are different. Mine were M10 spline, not sure of the Torx bit size but it's going to be something like T50. Might be worth popping the cam cover off and checking which type you've got. Also, I think the Torx bolts are stretch bolts (not re-useable) so possibly better to buy 10 new bolts first and then get a suitable bit for them.
  20. Remember that if you present a car at IVA without a spare wheel, you may still need to have a jack and wheelbrace in the car (particularly if you've got drum brakes on the back) to comply with 09B Service Brake Control / Mechanical Components - RS24 ,ability to check the wear on the service brake linings from outside or underside of the vehicle. (Using only tools or equipment normally supplied with the vehicle). This basically means the ability to use the jack to remove a rear wheel and check the brake lining through the inspection hole in the backplate.
  21. Lift off bonnet on mine, but it's hinged down the middle witha long piano hinge so I can also open each side individually. Nose cone also hinges forwards with the bonnet removed so I can access the rad and I used Screwfix lift-off stainless steel hinges so with the nose cone hinged forwards, I can silde it to the side about 40mm and remove it completely from the car. I thought about fixing the bonnet to the nose cone and hinging the whole lot forward but the nose cone is too flimsy to support the weight of the bonnet. As I'd also already fixed the 2 together, I covered the screw holes with a thin push-on rubber edge trim (also stops the bonnet chattering on the nose cone).
  22. Conduit is optional, not compulsory, I can only see one statement regarding wiring in the IVA manual and that's "all electrical cables/wires must be free from chaffing and secured at intervals of at least 300mm unless contained in a secure hollow component".

    Malt Shovel

About time you came in your car isn't it? Forecast looks not to bad tomorrow.
  24. It that case your probably need either a direct feed from the battery (with a split charge relay) or a proper towing harness. If the car wiring is CAN bus (which it probably is), I'd be wary of breaking into the existing wiring willy nilly as it might cause problems.
  25. Should have a 12v power socket on the left hand side of the rear load space. Not sure if it's permanent live though.
