  1. He's stated that it needs an IVA and that the plates shown on it don't come with the car - seems fair enough to me. I wonder what he'll do with the V5 now, selling V5's on their own is also a big no-no but if he'd managed to get that reg on a retention certificate, it could be worth a few quid. Most likely he'll just throw in the V5 if he sells the car and leave it up to the new owner to decide if they'll bother with IVA.

    My 2B For Sale

If Andi's happy with the car and what he paid for, isn't that all that matters?
  3. Unsuprisingly I didn't get any response to my question. I get the feeling it'll be back on Ebay again soon.

    Smiths Clocks

Dash fittings only need to be blunted if they project less thanm 3.2mm from the main dash surface, otherwise it's 5mm as Bob said. (IVA manual Past 12 Required Standard 1)
  5. I've just asked this: "When you say it's on the road with plates and no tax or MOT are necessary, is that because you've used a pre 1965 identity for the car and it's got Ford on the log book? Obviously this would be illegal and it would be better if your listing said that the car was complete, running and just needed and IVA and the car could probably be on the road and legal for less than £1000"
  6. Registered as a 1955 Ford 1998cc so he's used a Tax and MOT exempt identity to use it on the road. Highly illegal and I'm sure he knows it. Let see what he's got to say if I ask him about it.
  7. 165mm sphere for Interior projections, 100mm sphere for exterior projections
  8. Yes, 2.5mm - unless they project less than 3.2mm from the main surface in which case sharp edges should be blunted.
  9. Are your 12v power socket and the thingumyjig next to it IVA compliant in terms of radii - they don't look like it?
  10. Fixed scuttle on my 2b, nosecone hinges forwards but fitted on Screwfix lift off stainless steel hinges (so I can remove it completely without tools if I need to). Bonnet lifts off completely but also has a piano hinge along the centre so i can open each side individually if I want to. Seems to cover all eventualities. I cut my bonnet to make a fixed scuttle using a hacksaw initially and then just a hacksaw blade in a holder. Slower than an angle grinder but no sparks, no burning and dead easy to follow the edge of some masking tape used as a guide.
  11. Dolly or front end lift doesn't make it legal. Anything towed with its wheels on the road needs to be road legal which means cars need to be mot'd.
  12. I think that you probably do have the paperwork somewhere - I'm certain you'll find it once you get nearer to IVA.
  13. "If your VIN plate doesn’t list a train weight, you should not use your vehicle for towing." So that excludes pretty well anything registered before about 1998??? This seems more helpful: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/quick-guide-to-towing-small-trailers and confirms 50% of kerb weight for unbraked trailers.
  14. Maximium laden weight for an unbraked trailer is 750 KG or half the car's kerb weight - whichever is the lower. A 450kg puck is probably going to be more than 50% of your kerb weight.

    Drawing Software

You could buy a Premier loom and fit it in less time that it would take to draw one up on CAD.
  16. Yes, but what's the new kit?
  17. You need 2 original major components so it you don;t use the original FWD transmission then you need 2 from engine, front suspension, rear suspension and steering. Safest bet would be to use at least 3 from the donor vehicle, more bits carried over = less chance of a Q plate, plus obviously the kit itself - which needs to be NEW with evidence to support this (reciepts and looking new would also help). It's an utter minefield but more info is on the DVLA website: https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-registration/kitconverted-vehicles For DVLA purposes, a kit vehicle is one where ALL components are new - donor based kits like most of ours are kit converted vehicles as in the link above.
  18. Yes, well spotted - a bit too keen with copy / paste.
  19. Next Wednesday, 29th October , 7pm onwards, Malt Shovel Pub, Coventry Road, Nr Stonebridge, Coventry, CV7 7HL https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=cv7+7hl&hl=en&sll=52.412679,-1.569211&sspn=0.009463,0.024719&hnear=CV7+7HL,+United+Kingdom&t=m&z=15 Entrance to pub car park is off the A452 Chester Road heading North 50 yards from the island. See you there!
  20. As your brakes passed IVA, what was the actual solution this problem, it might help others out. I gather you replaced a pair of new Sierra calipers with Wilwood ones but this doesn't explain why there was an isuue with the Sierra ones.
  21. Out of curiosity, did they do the mirror check with cones and poles in an open space or with the markings on a wall. I know Keith said that there was originally a problem at Kiddy because they didn't have enough open space outsice to have the ground market out for the cone check and thay might have to use the wall markings method.
  22. I'd call that a good result - there's no shame in a fail and they're all easy fixes. Keith sat in on my test while he was training at Derby and I came away with a huge list because they really went over my car. Since he's been testing at Kiddy I've only heard good things about him, seems like a decent chap and enthusiastic about the cars.
  23. Emergency Hob-Nob holder.
  24. What is it with Keith and starter motors?
