    Misfire

If its only one cylinder with an issue its more likely to be the cap. Try rotating the cap 180* and see if the misfire moves.

    Engine rebuild

Hi Graham, I can highly recommend Steve Walford. He built my pinto which is now running in excess of 275bhp! He can do all the machining you might require including fitting hardened valve seats. Be sure to mention you found him through the club, he has done work for a number of members. I know he is busy at the moment with the run up to the 2cv 24 hour race at snetterton in september, but after that tends to be a bit quieter.
  4. Went out in my kit for its first proper drive since going back on the road, mixture of national speed limit roads and town traffic, and due to setting the fan control wrong, maintained a coolant temps of 85-90*c the entire time, which I think is a little on the cold side? Can anyone confirm what the ideal temperature range is and I can tweak my settings to suit.
  5. Little bit of progress ahead of the last ditch effort tomorrow to get the car properly wales ready

Worth giving brands hatch performance a call, got lots of bits for my turbo pinto build from them, always excellent quality and fantastic service.
  8. some of the westfield swept wings will actually cover enough of the wheel for IVA.
  9. Being off the road that long sounds like it might have ended up as a donor for something else

    Battery power

I assume the emerald has the ability to datalog? Would be worth trying to capture some logs when you are next using the car so that when the misfire happens it is possible to see some data around what was happening at the time.
  13. Well, this wasn't the job I intended to be working on today, but progress is progress.
  14. I really do need to change that wheel! I originally fitted it when the column was mounted lower and bigger wheels werent clearing my fat legs! Now the column is higher and I will be fitting some seats that get me lower in the car, I think a bigger wheel is in order. I was being quite restrained on that drive, certainly didnt use any where near all the revs, and pretty sure was only just coming on boost! Need to get wheel alignment sorted before I really push it
  15. Welcome on board! Just a head up in case you aren’t aware but the 1.7 puma engine, although badged zetec, is actually a sigma engine, and completely different to the 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 zetec engines. If I remember correctly, Intake and exhaust are on opposite sides and uses a different bellhousing. Unless you really have your heart set on the 1.7, it might be easier and cheaper to go for a 2.0 zetec.
  16. Back on topic of the ongoing saga that is one of my build threads... here is the latest instalment
  17. What are your thoughts on DuPont crimps @Jez Morton?
  18. Not sure anyone deserves to be put in a potentially life threatening situation...
  19. Well.... I didnt do an update video soon, but I have been working on the car. Was meant to go to MOT today, but apparently I decided soldering part of the wiring loom was a good idea 2.5 years ago, today I found out the hard way it was not a good idea! Still, easy fix, and thankfully not many other soldered joints to replace. I was going to do a proper update video so had the gopro on, so here is a some footage of me breaking down

    My IVA fail

It sucks to fail, but that sounds a nice simple fix list so sure it will pass next time :)
