  1. Andy (whiz) has a decent pinto AP racing clutch which I've just removed from his engine to fit a 4 paddle clutch. It looks in very good condition - pm him to see if he want to sell and then you could pop over to mine to fetch it
  2. I came across this one (can't remember where) but seems to give a good indication of what shape to strive for...
  3. Update time.....Engine plenum backplate and spacer machined in 1 piece and I've also been semi-successful in machining integrated bell mouths.....
  4. Once again, the club hog roast will be located at the Rhocar camp area on Sunday night, serving around 6pm (just after the AGM)

Or alternatively buy another shiney part for the engine, bolt it on and put it all back together and fingers crossed it will solve the problem for another few days Lol.... Seriously though, do you not realise that your original problems haven't been solved and you're going to keep going around in circles until you start taking the advice from members here who know what they're talking about!! It's a pinto. One of the easiest engines to work on. The majority of people on here been playing with them for years and have a vast knowledge which would have probably cured your engine woes by now if you would only listen and take some advice! As I said in my last post to you in the trigger wheel thread, we'd be seeing more problems from your engine and here we are again - please don't make the same mistakes again..Everyone is trying to help, so please, stop making things difficult for yourself. Take the engine block out, check bores, rings first before doing any more. Not meaning to be harsh.....just friendly advice as it would be nice to get that exmo on the road for more than 5 minutes for the summer!
  6. Having closely inspected all components of the charger this morning, the only possible cause is that something got sucked into the rotors; Front bearings and gears are perfect condition Clearance between the rotor ends and gear plate is fine Rear bearings are fine The damage is all isolated at the rear (intake) end. The biggest mystery is how something got sucked in. The bypass and throttlebody and all fine (no bits have fallen off) and the intake tube is polished smooth inside (i.e no weld debris to fall off). Like Dan says, I don't think we're ever going to know for sure....it just seems really bad luck. Fortunately the charger is standard so it's a straightforward swop.
  7. I'm reading this in complete awe of your electrickery skills!!! The ecu would make a really good article for the club mag......
  8. genuinely crying with laughter at that one!!! I couldn't read it in one go as I had to keep wiping away tears
  9. My advice - Stop messing about with that bl00dy engine and enjoy driving the car! I agree that if your current carb is screwed then change it for bike carbs, but leave the megajolt well alone and forget about a full 2.1rebuild - unless of course you prefer your car to be motionless for another god-knows how long! and miss the summer weather. No offence but reading your other (painful) thread, you don't ever seem to apply any logic or order to what you do either - which is critical when troubleshooting engine problems. Unless you completely know what you're doing, you should never try and change 2 major tuning components at once on a working engine. Fit the carbs, then get the engine set up running properly and some decent miles under its belt before even considering the megajolt. I've no doubt you're still going to go ahead with your original plans despite advice, and as such I've no doubt there will be another 20page thread popping up at some point soon. Not meaning to be offensive - but hoping some strong words may get through to you so you can finally start to enjoy your car!!!
  10. After a small delay, the lump of Ali has finally arrived and now to turn it into a pile of swarf.....
  11. This may help.... http://www.rhocar.org/index.php?showtopic=35307&hl=%2Brover+%2Bexmo
  12. Nearly posted this in the wrong supercharger thread....lol Fuel system all relocated now. The low pressure pump is situated under the charger and the swirl pot has move over a little to make room for the air filter; Next job is the engine intake plenum onto the jenveys....
  13. So the charger inlet is now finished and added a bit of strength back into the chassis where the original brace has been removed. Next job is now to fit all of the fuel system back into new locations to clear the big charger lump.
  14. Only just seen the wing comments.....what can I say, I had a wing years before it was fashionable. Some people are fashion followers, whilst others are fashion setters
  15. All good things come to those who wait......it will be worth mate!
  16. Glad its all worth it......I can just imagine whiz reading this and jumping up and down like a kid waiting for xmas!!!
  17. so after a bit of rework to the front bracket to give more belt coverage around the crank pulley, and the rear charger bracket machined / fabricated, ive now finally got the charger working. now that the fiddle bits are done, should start making some visible progress soon;
  18. Andi, you've done well to complete in time for spring!
  19. a bit miss leading really. the cost of an engine is small in comparison the the overall costs of fitting it in the car and getting it running. I could of bought a rover v8 for a few hundred quid......but it would have still cost me £££££ to fit it into the exmo to the standard I have.
  20. Surprise!?!?!?! I've just fell of my seat!!! my god that's good.....in fact the best yet!!! well worth the effort
  21. Kirsty is off work tomorrow so she's gonna give grosvenor a call
  22. NAECStonleigh web site doesn't have the show listed either.
  23. None whatsoever......what I do is measure the belt path using the wire with the tensioner set at either extreme of its tension position .....so in this case the belt I was looking for was somewhere between 1603 and 1640. I then just eBay '6pk1620' (or whatever length I'm looking for). If there are none that size, I just change the length by 1mm in the code and search again. eventually I land on a standard size belt that fits within my range.
  24. Small update - lots of little jobs done that take up time but don't show much progress. I've got the belt path complete and measured.....
  25. Alternator top bracket now complete with idle pulley. And like everything I make, it gets buried in the bottom of the engine bay never to see the light of day!!! And of course remembering to go the right way around the water pump this time....
