But the passenger side rear drum sticking slightly so look into that after replacing them all. Hopefully an easy fix. also managed to replace front braid lines so all nice and new. Bleed brakes up with all new fluid too. here is 2x pictures of the car that I took quickly on Sunday afternoon. just need to new Allen bolts for windows so I can install them, I managed to sand them and buff old windows up a bit which is a bonus. So at least there save able. I did order new windows from MK Indy but not going to use them. As not perfect match. Few bits of trim to add and good polish/buff soon once paint set bit more. just ordered few more bit all’s for it. Then get it out soon I hope. Track day

I like Blyton Park - we've done a few track days there and we would definitely be interested in coming out to play. To any members who don't know the track it is a good, fun track which is relatively safe. There is plenty of run off around most of it so should you exceed your talent level you can slide off and look sheepish without hitting anything solid. I know, I might have slid off on the odd occasion

    Track day

Some time ago when was involved as events sec a club track day was asked about. At the time the cost was massive , around the £8k mark. I now notice that Blyton park do a club track day. So i fired off a email to enquire and was surprised at the price. they basically limit the track to 6 cars and do about 7 lap sessions they have cut the cost by using cctv and less marshals. I enquired for 24 cars latter part of the year (sept), the price they came back with was £2950+vat so £3540 that works out at £147.50 per car if 24 cars. what are peoples thoughts?
  9. Leicestershire area meet 15th May Dog and Gun Keyham. 6.30ish onwards, we had reserved parking last month long the bottom of the carpark.
  10. Last week
  11. When I was starting my first, permanent work in 1990, I had a week to get hold of a car to be able to get there and back. I didn't have much money and I ended up with a Yugo 45. If that was not bad enough, the tailgate was rusty, the clutch was slipping, a CV joint was on the way out, the accelerator cable was frayed and needed to be released by pulling the pedal up with the top of my shoe (an interesting ride home) and the bottom engine mount was split. It was only four years old, but had had a very hard life as a driving school car. The good side was that I paid £500, replaced the clutch myself, sorted the cable, tidied up the tailgate and fitted an engine mount from a scrapyard - I left the CV joint alone - and 6 months later, I traded it in for £500, against a 2-year old Sierra. Definitely the best value for money car I owned, but awful from the start.
  12. Thanks going to remove then fit wipers over winter.
  13. Bore is not 100% I've gone for a dual outlet 3/4" one, need to make an adaptor plate & run new lines, we'll see how it goes.
  14. If you give your location there may be someone local who could help?
  15. If the bore is ok can you get some seals for it?
  16. Another nice day for the East of England group. Weather superb, location lovely and a nice run in the cars for everyone. Thanks to all who supported it.
  17. Very good point! i was thinking along the lines of preventative maintenance but in reality your right, i’ll leave as is for now and replace it in the future! thanks again for all the advice on this
  18. Great run out to Charity Farm, Ian and I met up, walked around the plethora or cars there and chatted the finer detail and stories with some proud owners add to that a brew and some great weather. It is a great venue for us to meet up at and use the time to plan in some NW activities. Perhaps see some more members next time? have fun Darrell
  19. If the pump works why replace it? I am sticking to E5.
  20. Thanks so much for this information! extremely helpful to know this kind of thing. so just to clarify, i’m okay leaving the fuel pipe and injectors as is for now? i’ll change the pump as it’s getting on for nearly 38 years old and i’ll remove the flow damper at same time. will i need to remap the fuel injector settings to run e10? Once again thanks for all the advice

  22. I'll repeat what I said on your FB post; having a screen without wipers is worse than no screen at all. So you might pass your MOT but if you dont/can't fit wipers (you don't need demisters, I've got through MOTs without them), then leave the screen off and fit an aero screen and wear a helmet. My wipers stopped working on a day out when it started raining and I couldn't see a thing, I literally had to lean out the car to see. You'd think the airflow would blow the water off a little but I think because our screens are flat, that just doesn't happen.
  23. Need more detail; what engine, when does the noise happen (at idle, revving etc), does it change as you rev? I had something like that a few years back - this post below lists some tests that will help: https://zerolifebuild.blogspot.com/2018/08/not-under-pressure.html
  24. Never seen it done but the MX5 column one is quite straight forward, alternatively you might be able to mount the MX5 column switchgear on the Sierra column the only issue might be the self cancelling, it would make sense to use the full MX5 electrics
  25. Picked up a complete 1.6 MX5 Mk2 today - seems like a good low mileage engine. Im fairly confident on the engine/box mounting (not saying I think its going to be a breeze). Has anyone fitted the steering column from the MX5. The cortina one is in place and works, theres a bit of play, but I was thinking I could move the stalks ignition etc over from the MX5 and connect up to the cortina rack.
  26. Thought that I better check some other factors. Ethanol has a petrol equivilency of 1.5. What does this mean? To totaly replace petrol you need to pass 1.5 times as much ethanol in order to keep stoichiometric combustion i.e. burning all the oxygen passing through the engine and is so doing providing almost 1.5 times the power. This is the reason that older cars cannot run on E10 or higher fuels without remaping the injector settings or rejetting the carb. More modern cars use the lambda sensor to track the ethanol content and make adjustments on the fly.
  27. Love the colour, keep up the good work, it’s great to follow your journey
