Ford Focus wheels can be a cheap option, i managed to pick a tidy set up for £11 on evilbay...the guy was pretty reluctant to let them go though
-
-
They have a few marks from storage but are unused. How does £30 posted sound?

Unfortunately they are slightly wider than my current ones & they are a tight fit
-
Andy, I'll have a measure up tonight against my current seats which look very similar (same make) as these are a very tight fit which I can just get away with, it's just that the ones I have are very tatty. Rich

How wide are the Corbeau seats? Cheers Rich

Damn only just seen this

SnapperPaul on here sent me a copy of the original 3A build videos (copied onto DVD). They are pretty hard to follow as they are not in any particular order (not the best camera work or editing by Robin Hood) Rich
-
Now here is an option for the original poster as I have a series 3 monocoque that I'm currently building (has not yet been IVA'd) which would be a like for like for a S7 (well near enough especially as even Robin Hood couldn't make each one the same). So if he had my monocoque to replace his like for like making it the same as it previously was & instead of purchaing a zero for himself & then the added cost of the IVA he could just pass the zero on to me for me to carry on my build & the IVA at my cost....A win win situation....Well it was worth a try :-? Mine had 9" drums & I just used the hubs that were already fitted. I did change the studs to slightly longer ones as the disc is slightly thicker than the drum & also I have alloys - Focus again, the donor had steels. I'm running braided hoses - made to suit at work & the handbrake cable is a shortened/modified focus one with cables routed from behind..
-
I've done it, but went down a slightly different route & had some caliper adaptor brackets machined at work as I decided not to use sierra parts due to the 'cosworth' tax & used focus parts instead (fraction of the price, parts still current so easily available & they are actually the same discs used on the sierra anyway). I will try & post some pics later as I'm struggling to get them to upload at the moment. Rich

A few reasonably priced pintos on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-CAPRI-MK3-2-0-PINTO-ENGINE-MK1-MK2-ESCORT-SIERRA-ANGLIA-CORTINA-5SPD-/252387812130?hash=item3ac37c6322:g:SBQAAOSw3mpXN23r http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-pinto-1600-OHC-engine-/131821436675?hash=item1eb12b7f03:g:WfAAAOSwq5pXP2L2 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1600-A-Pinto-Engine-/141995999442?hash=item210f9f00d2:g:wfAAAOSwVcFXOwrn Rich

The diode lets current flow in one direction only & protects the led This explains it - http://www.shoptalkforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=125353

True but the biggest measure of material strength is UTS (ultimate tensile strength). I was just trying show the relationship between a 10.9 bolt & EN24T. The pivot bar is basically a bolted joint therefore under tension.
-
As above EN24T is probably your best bet & shouldn't need heat treating ( 'T' condition has a tensile strength of 850MPa & hardness of up to 30HRc). It's a reasonable quality medium strength engineering steel (will be as tough as the original spindle if not better) . For reference a 10.9 bolt is about 830MPa & 35HRc so slightly harder but it's the tensile strength that is more important. Rich

An alternative to Mikalor clamps is the JCS Hi-torque, fraction of the cost, bigger range of adjustment on each size of clamp. They may look like a standard Jubilee type clamp but with the recommended 15Nm tightening torque they hold well - we use them on engines with over 5Bar pressure (70PSI old school) on silicone hose. I like the fact you're going for the rebuild, I'm in a similar boat although mine is a series 3 monocoque, so that part is in fairly good condition, but have had to refurb or replace pretty much everything else. Yes it is going to cost me probably twice what I could have bought a finished road going hood, but for me it's about building the car, to be able to say "I built that" & it's how I want it to be & I know the car inside out.
