  1. The pictures I posted from their site were from 2008 so would expect the price to have gone up but you can always ask. I am sticking to the sliding pillar with my own mod's with shorter springs and adjusters, Also new top mountings for Avo shock's. The picture attached is without the new tops. Regards Martin

    Timing Pinto Engine

Hi I found details as below that agent_zed posted in 2009 hope this will help you. Regards maca hi, hopefully got this right but turn the engine to TDC should be the big groove in the crank pulley align with the pointy bit top left when facing the engine. the cam shaft should then have a pointer which is inline with a dot on the engine behind. Take the dizzy cap off and note where that is pointing. undo the crank bolt to take the pulley off. loosen the tensioner and remove the belt. put the new one on. Make sure that the belt is tight between the cam and the bottom pulley on the left. If you put it all tight on the right when you tension up it will take up the slack on the left and change the position of the cam/crank. Tighten up the tensioner so that the belt in just tight enough that you can twist it 90 degrees with your finger and thumb but no further. To be on the safe side you could just mark everything with tipex so if the worst comes to the worst you know where everything goes. If the standard pinto is the same as the transit 2lt pinto then its not too bad if you mess it up as the pistons miss the valves as we found out when a cam belt snapped on us. Although it would be good practice to turn the engine round by hand to ensure that nothing is wrong before starting. hopefully thats how others do it.

    Spare Wheel Cover

Just had a look on ebay quite a few at a good price. Type in 15" spare wheel cover. Regards maca
  12. The best way to get to the cable is to take a piece out of the tunnel side plate where the cable go's by the side of the tube. Then you may have to undo the gearbox centre bolt to be able to lift the box away from the tube to get the circlip off that retains the cable into the box. After refitting make a cover plate to replace the part you have taken away. The cable would have been fitted before the tunnel sides where secured. I am fitting the 90 deg. drive unit to mine and still need to modify to give room at the tube. Regards Maca

    Rear Suspension

I have to agree with your statement the new setup mounting bars are now a good fit without any play in the tube. I had to use a flap wheel to clean up the tube seam for them to slide in. And as it is solid bar then no crushed tube.

    Rear Suspension

If it's any help this is how my part built 2B was. I have since modified it to solid mounting bar that will slide inside the tube for adjustment in 3 places at 2" increments machined to fit the ends of the coil overs and have just ordered some new AVO units, not got any pictures of the new setup yet. Regards maca
  16. Not to sure that a quick release boss would help you much other than getting in and out of the car. Can the seat be repositioned back more? If not then you may have to look at moving the steering shaft up more but that could cause you more problems with the mounting bracket and then the shaft to the rack catching the tube in the engine bay. Or the other option is to change the pedal position if you have room to move them forward without catching the foot well. I'm 5'-3" and my Son is about 5'-10" and by having the seat adjustable it will suit us both. (The last option is to have your legs shortend! sorry only joking) Martin
  17. I would say that Chris is right with the master cylinder at fault, as when you are loosing pressure with the engine running so you are putting more pressure on the seals that causes the extra pedal travel. This in turn will let air past when trying to bleed the system. I had this many years ago on brakes and clutches when I had spent days trying to bleed them. Martin

    Wiring Woes!

Hi not knowing how yours is wired it could be that the head lights only work with the ignition switched on so check this first before going to deep as some systems are like that so you don't leave the head lights on after switching off the ignition. Regards maca

    Pot Holes

The A52 out of Derby towards Nottingham has had a speed reduction sign put on it to 40 MPH for about 2 miles. Saw about 12 chaps in yellow jackets walking between the centre barriers looking at the state of the road the other week, so bad now that it could do with ripping up and a new top laying. I know that will cause some heated drivers heads when they get round to doing it, Just hope they don't patch it up or it will be worse than what it is now.
  23. Don't tell me Terry's had chocolate oranges.
  24. This is how we went about doing our's. 1-Burn out old bush with Oxy/Acetylene cutting gun. 2-Cut & makeup top and bottom plates. 3-Weld plates into position. We also removed the mounting plates from the tube & made up a new cross plate. See the pictures attached. Regards maca
