Your grille looks like the 100mm sphere contact points would be less than 10mm in which case blunted edges would suffice.

Which part of the nose cone grille failed? As long as the mesh is blunted it should be ok on a functional grille.

  4. Welcome aboard. First think to check if you've not done so already is that it's correctly registered - ideally before you've handed any money over. V5 should say Robin Hood, not Triumph or Ford. If you've not seen the V5, you should be able to check by doing a DVLA vehicle enquiry online using the reg number. If it's got a current MOT then you're probably OK but it pays to be careful and avoid incorrectly registered cars, there's a few out there. You wouldn't be the first to get caught out and certainly not the last. Insurance wise there's plenty of choice, including A Plan who support the forum, Adrian Flux and many others. As with any insurance, the choice is wide and the service is variable. Tax should be £265? a year - pay it monthly, you'll probably have the car off the road in the winter anyway. Get to a local meet if you can, lots of helpful advice from members near you. Leics area members are a very active and a good bunch of guys.
  5. As Steve said, overinflate the front tyres for IVA to get it to self centre. Then consider tye Kitspares wishbone handling pack. Just fitted one to mine and it's the best money I've spent on the car.
  6. Ok, thanks for the feedback guys. I spoke to some of the other folks at our area meet last week and the majority seem to be in favour of an earlier departure (but not too early). With this in mind, the plan now is to meet at Dobbies Garden centre on the A5 at Bayston Hill, Shrewsbury SY3 0DA at 1100 and then continue on to Rhug Farm Shop on the A5 at Corwen LL21 0EH. Arrival time at Rhug should be between 1200 and 1230 so ideal for a lunch stop before continuing onward. As in previous years, I'll meet everyone there. Trev has said that he'd like to keep the British car industry running on the Friday morning, so he'll be travelling up later in the afternoon and will see us there. If anyone else wants to travel earlier, later or independently, let me know so people can leave the meeting points as soon as everyone's there who plans to be.
  7. The biggest obstacles to doing this would be the mass of wiring on a modern diesel and mating it to a rwd gearbox.
  8. Great turnout tonight 17? kits and a few new faces there to. Apologies to anyone I didn't get to speak to, so many people and so little time.
  9. Thanks for the responses so far. I should be seeing some of my local lads at the Wednesday meet so I'll speak to them there. My thoughts now are Dobbies at 11-00 followed by Rhug sometime after 12-00 for lunch. I can meet everyone there and we can take the scenic roads up to Llyn from there with an mid-afternoon arrival. This will allow everyone to get settled in their accommodation before either doing their own thing for the evening or heading down to the Ty Coch (which we've not managed to do yet on previous years)
  10. As a few people have booked the Friday off work I’d like to get an idea what peoples thoughts are regarding departure times. As I indicated previously, I think an earlier departure time would be a good idea. Experience from previous years has shown that the traffic up to Rhug on a Friday afternoon can be pretty shocking and this was confirmed yesterday when I drove up this way as opposed to my usual route. My main concerns are that the larger group size this year, combined with the delays caused by roadworks on the M54( 2 blokes with 1 wheelbarrow doing 5 miles of barrier work), means that general progress is likely to be slower than previous years. Also the normal 3-30PM meet at Dobbies Shrewsbury leaves no time for unexpected delays and tends to make the journey onwards from there more rushed that I’d like it to be, particularly when we have to factor in getting a large group of people fed at teatime. With this in mind can I get an idea if people have any restrictions to their departure times? I still want to try and get everyone together as a group on Friday but I also want to make sure that anyone who’s got the day off, makes the most of it. Obviously this might not suit everyone, so if there’s any late departures, I can give them specific directions that should allow them to make swifter progress. I’m not suggesting meeting at Rhug at 930AM – but if I could get an idea when people could get to Dobbies (SY3 0DA), it would help me plan things out. Mal, you won’t want to meet here, can you give us an earliest time at Rhug (LL21 0EH).
  11. No, looks removable but it's actually the front end of the gearbox. Bloke at Stoneleigh had adaptor plates to mate to common engines so still worth considering if you can get a plate machined to join the Mazda bellhousing to the Peugeot block. I think the limiting factors are the size of the flywheel and the Mazda mounts the motor to the bellhousing pointing forwards. Apparently they're decent boxes and cheap to buy.
  12. ET15? Anyway it's an Aray wheel. The size and offset is cast into the wheel on the inside of one of the spokes
  13. Someone will always be there, except in December when we don't have a meeting.
  14. I have nothing to fear, there will be light cloud cover so no-one from Leics will be there!
  15. I hear some of the Leics guys are swapping their Zeros for LIGHTWEIGHTS
  16. Next Wednesday, 24th June, 7pm onwards, Malt Shovel Pub, Coventry Road, Nr Stonebridge, Coventry, CV7 7HL https://maps.google....ingdom&t=m&z=15 Entrance to pub car park is off the A452 Chester Road heading North 50 yards from the island. See you there!
  17. I know Mark was really looking forward to the trip and is gutted but being the great bloke he is, he's putting his family first and his now wife is looking forward to getting a big calendar for Christmas and her birthday.
