    Seat Fixings

When I talked to GBS prior to buying my Superspec I was advised by them that the Superspec was about 3.5 inches wider, I never queried it but when I bought it from Neville who was the original purchaser he had also been advised that the Superspec was wider. Will check in my paperwork and advise further. Cheers Steve
  5. Hi I used a piece of Aluminium to make a Hoop inside my Bonnet my Dad assisted he was a Sheet Metalworker and Body builder in the 50's through to the 80's. When we wanted to bend the Aluminium Strip we Annealed it using a Gas Torch and tested if it was hot enough with a strip of Ash Wood ! Heat the Ally and push the Ash along it when the Ash starts to Smoke take away the heat and let it cool on its own. Sorry if this not too explicit but he made it look easy. Sadly he is no longer with us. Hope you succeed to Bend your Aluminium get a Scrap piece if you have one and try a practice. Dad used to repair lots of Aluminium bodied Cars, he always made it all look easy ! Cheers Steve

    Seat Fixings

Hi my 2B was built by GBS it is a Superspec and is slightly wider than the normal 2B. The Seats were taken out by the guy who originally bought it / had it built by GBS and they were replaced with Cobra Leather Seats which are very comfortable. The seats are on Runners so that when I get in I can move to the back which makes it easier for me to get in and out. If you can I would fit your seats with Runners from what I can see these are bolted through the floor and add extra strength to the position. Sorry I am not able to assist further but if you can use runners it does make getting in out and comfortable in a driving position better. Good Luck Steve

  11. Andi, so sorry to see your problem ! Gather you have Log Burner ? Had a run in Autumn time with a log I split with full size Axe ! Log Spit but half decided to aim for my left shin, " One Lump or Two " very painful the pain went away after about 6-8 weeks. Also had a run in with a Lump Hammer whilst trying to split wood hit thumb nail with swift blow last January 2013 the nail recovered in around 9 months but still producing Black Nail now !! I never realised having a Wood Burner would be such a Dangerous Hobby, nothing ventured nothing gained. Agree get it checked out to ensure no permanent damage, look after yourself young man, see you soon stay SAFE. Kindest regards Steve
  12. On my 2B Superspec I fitted 2 x Aluminium Hoops to strengthen the bonnet and stop it flexing when sitting at tick over. Just pop riveted them in just make sure it will not foul any of the engine. Cheers Steve

  17. Hi sorry to hear of your problems. If you need a New Battery I have always had success with thebatteryguys.com if I not got it correct google the battery guys. I had phenomenal service from them, always very helpful but only on the net. My Daughter who is at University leaves her car sometimes for several weeks without using it and we purchased from Maplin a Solar Battery Charger/manager that she plugs in to the Cigarette Lighter Socket in the Car everytime she leaves it parked up. She puts the Panel in an area where it will collect any available light. I also use one Glued to the Wall of my Garage that I keep the Hood in and make sure battery is fully charged before leaving car for winter. The Solar Panel keeps Battery OK so far so good. Hope this assists. Steve

    Dvla Frustration!

We had same problem October / November 2013 they even claimed had no paperwork so Dealer had to Courier copies to DVLA Swansea, then it all happened early January 2014. Very Frustrating but understood they DVLA were being downsized or Farmed out. Have a Wonderful SAFE 2015 with your New TOY.
  19. Yeah Know exactly what you mean our one had a "B" in his Bonnet about Sand Paper and Glass Paper one young Guy used to wind him up all the time and ask for a Sheet of Sand Paper and was Welted Across his Forehead with the Lump of Dowelling which bought up a really wonderful lined Bruise. I am sure no one would be able to get away with it now though.
  20. Ours was normally a " BOARD RUBBER " or " CHALK " which were normally well Aimed, or if it was the Wood Work Teacher a half inch piece of Dowel that he would wield to Chastise and Threaten all and Sundry " HAPPY DAYS " !!!
  21. Hi Everyone MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR 2015. I have recently been looking for some "One Off Decals" to be made. Looked on the web sent off messages to various companies but all replied then when I sent the ArtWork no one responded or not interested in small number or one off's. Walking with my wife in Nuneaton the other day and came across new Company housed in old building off the beaten track which had a sign / banner outside stating :- HUK GROUP Signs * Graphic Design * T Shirt Printing * Workwear * Banners * Vehicle Wraps * Stickers * Canvas Prints * Business Stationary * Posters * Embroidery. www.Hukgroup.com / Sales@Hukgroup.com Telephone :- 02477672218 or 07956387354 HUK GROUP, Corporation Street Nuneaton CV11 5AB We ventured inside to be greeted by a voice shouting from the upstairs office/workroom be down with you in a minute, we then met Chris Howells the Company Director. I asked if he would be able to produce a Personal one off Sticker ? Much to my amazement he said bring me in the artwork if you have any or email it to me. I stated that I had it on a Memory Stick and he said bring it in and I will have a look. I was taken aback by " I will have a look " attitude ! Visited a couple of days later Chris was out at a clients, left detail from my Memory Stick with Martin who assists Chris at the business. Received an email from Chris saying would be pleased to produce one off decals and price was reasonable too ! Visited again and Chris looked further at my artwork and spent some time showing me what would be possible, most impressed with this man's attitude to One Off print business, so I said I would put a note on RHOCaR website to share for others who may be interested. Am returning to Chris in New Year to order my One Off's. Hope this note gives others information. Thanks for reading. Steve
  22. HI All, we use "AUTO AID" they offer a policy from the recent renewal we just did for my Daughter who is in Swansea it was about £42.00. It covers her car or if she is in another Car it covers them too. My wife has a policy too it covers her and me so according to AUTO AID Wife and Husband or partner covered, they also stated that it covered her car which is new and gets free breakdown cover with the RAC but we kept the AUTO AID anyway it covers my 17 year old Mitsubishi my Motorcycle and my Kit Car. I did ask when we originally took out the Policy and they confirmed. If there is a drawback if you Breakdown or Fail to Start at Home you have to Phone them and obtain an Authorisation/Claim Reference. They then contact a Local Garage or Repairer who gets to you, YOU HAVE TO PAY THE GARAGE / REPAIRER who leave you with a Bill/Invoice that you submit to Auto Aid who within 2 - 3 weeks reimburse you the Full Amount backed up of course by your Authorisation/Claim Reference. We have used their service when Rosemary could not get her car started in the garage at home. All was very swift and convivial from No Start at home to paid out at home. Hope this is useful to anyone we obtained originally from Martin Lewis website Martins Money Saving Tips. Have advise many others in our family. Hope you get sorted try Googling Auto Aid. Cheers Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all who read ! Steve and Rosemary
  23. We bought a new car for Rosemary last year as her other car was sold to our daughter who is at Uni. The dealer sent all the paperwork off to DVLA Swansea Logbook etc. The dealer then said new car has now arrived about a month or 6 weeks later can they put it on new plate and then change to personalised plate later, we did not want to do this. We phoned Swansea who had no papers relating to transfer of plate dealer ended up couriering copy paperwok to Swansea and we got the car in January this year when it was all sorted. It was a nightmare ! Good LUCK with yours worth phone call to DVLA to chase up if you can. Have a Great Christmas and New Year Kevin. Steve and Rosemary
