  3. hi matt, a small local label maker would be a good bet. they'd use a rule die and will have hundreds in stock so you wont pay for tooling. let me know if you want to find a local one. i used to work in die cutting and can give my old place a call. i can even ask if they have any old test presses lying around. can i ask what you are doing with them? paul
  4. b*m does that mean that i might end up with a fuel gauge that doesnt mach the rest of the dials? or is there any kind of add on variable resistor i could buy that would sort any problem out? thanks chris Paul
  5. does anyone have any idea why they built it? seems an odd way to spend 3million
  6. hello, i've bought a new petrol tank as the old one was leaking. its a mini van tank, and comes with a mini sender unit. i also need to buy a fuel gauge (car currently doesnt have one) and had intended to buy one that matches the rest of the dials (this range here : http://www.speedycables.com/page21.html ) i dont know however if the two will be compatible, or what i need to know to work it out can anyone offer any advice? thanks Paul

    Getting Fired

the media seem to have decided that moral outrage is much better to generate than real news stories. they seemed to get a taste for it with ross/brand and now it seems its every week they find that someone somewhere has said something that might be offensive to someone. now i dont particularly mind thatcher being sacked (exactly what is she qualified to do: other than being the slightly less pointless sibling in that family?) but i dont quite see why it should be front page news. its worrying that journalists would rather moralise/create moral outrage than report on news items these days.

    Sva - Documentation

just out of interest iain, what are the possible probs of a Q plate? steve i agree with you, as we've discussed before on here, legally they put themselves in a very tricky position. they do seem to be presuming that we are lying unless we can prove otherwise. if we sign a declaration, its up to them to disprove surely? any legal eagles knoq who we take this up with? (now mine is fortunately, eventually registered) local MP?
  13. I also got WILDMOOR MTC in Birmingham to fit a 2 Litre PINTO engine into the car and modify the sump to get the height of the power bulge down and they have carried out this work exceptionally well. power bulge? its massive!!!!! and a bit on the fugly side for me

    V8 Bits

you wont regret it! got my rad from grantham radiators (they make rads for AK Cobras) they'll make one to whatever size you want. I'm on the v8 forum, and also the Sd1 forum. (just dont make the mistake of telling them that you've ripped the V8 out of what turns out to be a quite rare Sd1 !!!! i nearly did but i think i got away with it. you could also have a look at the cobra forum, as you often get bits or whole set ups from the rich fellas upgrading to corvette engines.... paul
  17. if it wasnt so far i'd go with the vindicator. if they dont like robin hoods they'd hate that! the thing about these forums is that one post (or possibly two) in a whole thread gives outsiderrs a bad impression of the whole community. i'm sure the majority are good guys, who arent elitest a*seholes. i know one through work and you couldnt meet a nicer guy.
  18. squirt of wd40 sorted it. thanks guys paul
  19. helo, we finally managed to get the v8 to fire yesterday after about 4 months in a damp cold garage. (one new plug and a squirt of easy start) its had a good run in the garage but we noticed a visible spark on the coil from the centre to one of the terminals. does anyone know what is causing this, and how to resolve it? cheers paul

    Advice Please

hi there, the answer is that you should be able to get a good car for that money IF you are prepared to wait a little, i bought my 2b for that kind of figure, it was 9 months post a first time sva pass, 2 litre pinto, excellent build, did a trip to le mans and various other places with no problems in the first year. get to some shows, look at as many cars as possible and when a car comes up that seems a really good price you'll be abkle to tell if its a good un or not. there may also be local meets where you can have a look at cars and get advice paul

    Mobile Help

hello, i just wanted to pick the brains of the rhocar mobile phone experts. i'd like a mobile that i can use to access emails when away from work, but dont want to go down the blackberry route. i can access hotmail etc on the current one, but i need to be able to set up pop3 type stuff to access my work webmail acount. just wondered if anyone new of a cheap alternative for me to look for second hand on ebay? cheers paul
  23. in a world that increasingly individual, and socially isolating its nice to feel a part of something. its possible to work from home, livings miles away from any of your colleagues, shop from home, interact remotely in cyber space, and be almost totally unattached to the locality in which you actually live. the 15 quid is worth it for me and it makes me feel that i'm a real bonefide member of national network of like minded people who are prepared to help each other out, and alocal network of people who you may well find live just at the end of your street. and i kind of like that. given that its only fifteen quid a year, i almost think you need a reason not to join rather than the other way around.

    Photographs

what is the receipt for? is it the whole kit? (ie an inclusive kit with everything included) or did you have to source other parts from elsewhere. if you have additional receipts for seats engine etc, these might help. if not i'll pm you the name of someone sensible at the DVLA.
