  4. The universal joints on your steering shaft are out of phase.
  5. I've never heard of that either. I have to stay with mine because my tester can't get in or out because of a bad hip but I'm quite happy to do that in case there is a problem which I can fix. Whatever next, no tests on red cars?
  6. Never heard an MOT station refusing to test a kit, they are just a normal Class 4 tests, the only time I have been an issue was when the tester was too large to fit in the kit he had the apprentice sit in the car.

  10. Have always found it's best to use the same station as does your daily driver, they had the work for the run of the mill wheels you own; so are probably prepared to go the extra mile.
  11. Hi All, I got my car through the IVA test a number of years ago, subsequently had a load of engine problems, which after a new carb, cam and starter motor and discovering a leaking inlet valve got it running properly. More months pass by and I finally ring my local garage to see if I can book an MOT, only to find out they don’t do MOT’s for Kit Cars. They suggested somewhere but I don’t really fancy driving the car over the hills to get there. Does anyone know of an MOT station in the Macclesfield area that is experienced with kit cars? Many Thanks Nigel
  12. Well done to the helper, I cannot repeat what my wife says on this forum when I ask for help.
  13. Just found my cover in the garage over the weekend.

I have worked in the insurance sector for the last 18 years, it is very challenging especially with insurance premium tax, admin fees, brokers, price comparison sites etc. Shop around is the best advice and it would be good to support our sponsors. If anyone has a massive issue between £20-£50 a year then kitcars are probably not the hobby for you.

It wasn't a complaint, it was a suggestion based on fact, you could have replaced Flux with Heritage or any other insurance company & the result would have been the same, insurance companies are not there for our benefit they are there to make money just like any business. Now if you do want my personal feelings on auto insurance companies they would be deleted.

Can we keep this thread relevant to potential insurance providers rather than complaining about any particular company. I know there will always be good and bad experiences with most companies but it doesn't help us find support for the club if only the bad experiences seems to come to the fore.

There's never a definitive cheapest insurer so it's important to shop around. Get quotes from the companies that support the club, we appreciate their support and it's good when we can give a bit back by putting business their way.
  24. I got a quote over the phone from Heritage and they promised all the details by e mail 3 times so I gave up on them, called Adrian Flux got a quote and all the details straight away and the quote was better than Heritage.

  27. I assume yours is a sierra based monocoque with inboard shocks? In which case the brackets would normally be welded to the dummy strut.
