  1. Hi, Does anyone have experience of these fuel tanks? Thinking of replacing impractical fiesta tank in my superspec with one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Robin-Hood-2B-11-5-Gallon-Fuel-Tank-Catch-Pot-/190349047541 £143.68 Ta Ed
  2. You weren't even tempted a little bit by a rover
  3. Agreed, price too high. My '10 plate with no miles was less than that. Least its had a suspension upgrade! does look nice in pictures, Also thought the superspec came with a rover engine?
  4. Forgot to say, I use a gas camping heater (£20 from go outdoors) not used it in deepest winter yet, but have high hopes!!!
  5. A blanket / curtain over the door would probably work better. Need to make it airtight, and the air pocket behind the curtain will help. Friend has used this stuff with good results http://www.wickes.co.uk/thermal-insulation-foil-roll-600mmx8m/invt/210022/

    New Cooling Duct

    Where did it come from?

    Erratic Indicators

At a complete guess heating and cooling could change the resistance. With the the fuel gauge one, what gauges do you have? I have a superspec with the escort dash and my fuel guage does the same. For my problem there are 2 solutions really - colour in the bottom of E to make it a F and paint an extra line in on the F to make it F! Or take the sender out and reverse the connection of where the float meets the sender to reverse the resistance. Rather than buying a LED relay, if you can wait to the next area meet (I think the Malt Shovel one is nearest) I aim to come to that and can bring mine along and you can try it at the meet.
  8. Mine broke 3 weeks or so ago after 600 miles at the pedal end. Some other people on here there's failed about the same distance. It's a must to carry spare if you haven't adapted how the cable links to pedal, it will fail!

    Erratic Indicators

Have any of the indicators been swapped for led ones? Some posts on here suggest the conventional relay suffers with low resistance of them. There is an electronic one: http://www.rhocar.org/index.php?showtopic=33545&hl=+triumph%20+relay#entry252289 Didn't help mine....may help yours!
  10. The alloy one of the rover 420 fits, though check you don't already have one fitted the super spec came with different sumps. I have a spare sump as thought I needed one, turned out I didn't just crap ground clearance. The 420 sump is about 11cm. Other solutions should you have the 820 sump is to cut it down and weld a new plate on it. Loads of previous posts about it on here. Pickup needs to be replaced or shortened and also may need new bolts. I just lifted ride height, and now I have 8.5cm clearance which is great! Pm if you need a 420 alloy sump. Ed
  11. Anyone fitted a carpet before? Is it a DIY'able task? It's a 2nd hand carpet in a small room! Seen it done enough times!! (I'm a competent DIY'er!) Ta Ed

    Suspension

The ride height is a guide, the important part is to get rear higher than front and get a height which is drive able (speed bumps) but not too high either. Def worth getting a 4 wheel alignment check done, should cost less than £20. My understanding is shims are for the rear where suspension meets hubs. They are used to correct rear toe and camber. If you measure front toe using rear wheels as guide good chance toe is off as rear will have toe.. Changing ride height will change camber/toe.
  13. Why are they always built by "retired engineers....."

    Malt Shovel

Hi, is this on wed evening? Ta Ed
  15. Surely that part can just fall off derestricting it
  16. My superspec was fitted with the mirrors, but they were offset, drivers side is on edge of scuttle nearest engine bay the other side was opposite fixed to windscreen mount and and then edge nearest passenger of the scuttle. ed
  17. Not sure why he needs v5 or mot. Surely he will have to re register in aus like foreign vehicles here do within 6 months. Re drive to soton, why isn't he using a car transport firm, agree should pay fuel costs/ return costs unless you are near by (poss even your time.) what's the intention to sell letter about? Surely receipt better upon funds transfer. Be careful with funds transfers, they can be reversed. Cash is your friend, or insist transfer into an account (set one up for thus purpose)and withdrawal of funds and deposit into your own account before you release. It may be genuine, but could be major hassle.....just keeping the deck loaded your way, keep at it (but don't stop advertising car, uk sale easier!) By 5 bob worth! Ed

    Clutch Adjustment

Understandable, you were happy....I have sympathy with mine!
  19. Ouch, used to cost about £3 when I was mowing neighbours lawns as a kid for 5l of fuel
  20. I have one of these http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_222191_langId_-1_categoryId_165513 Excellent field of view, small mirror and suction is very good so doesn't wobble. Also very popular in the lotus Elise world apparently. Ed
  21. We should be up for this too!
  22. Really wish I had spare cash, trailer looks great. Ed
