    Header Tank

I never used one I just fitted a one litre over flow tank like you had on a pinto never had a problem
  3. Thanks for all the replys I wish it was the 22dci blowing oil everywhere - that's an easy fix of a new inlet manifold gasket - done a few of them found it by pure chance on a neighbours laguna - as for a failed waterpump that too is an engine out job !! it's true there lovely cars when running but such a pain in the @@@@ when they go wrong why are all modern cars so hard to work on and don't even think of going to a dealer !!
  4. On way home tonight the car started to get very hot needless to say I pulled over to find water/steam pumping out from the exp bottle - I let it cool down topped up the water and drove home -again water/steam/bubbles from header tank so I put the rad pressure test on it pumped it to 3bar and left it for an hour -the needle never moved a mm but as soon as it starts and warms excessive pressure in header -no other symptoms no oil mix nothing in oil cap but passed pressure test 100% It's the 3.0 v6 so major engine out job if head gasket has gone - which TBH it must be

    Making An S7 Wider

Yer I'm thinking of cutting it off just behind the gear lever and replacing it with 1.5mm /2mm thick stainless all the way back
  6. I'm thinking of trying to make my sierra based s7 take some better seats now I have some nice ones from a mx5 but there 2/3 inchs to wide so the plan is make transmission tunnel a bit narrower - so before I go at it with the angry grinder has anyone else tried / attempted this or is it a case of it just can't be done cos looking inside the tunnel it only has the prop so there looks loads of room
  7. I agree just done the lights on my bmw and bumper has to come off and then you take the light out !!!!! What happens if you have a bulb out in say france where it's a fine! It can't be that hard to design a space behind the light
  8. Yep I'll be going hopefully in the hood weather permitting
  9. I'm using the weber alpha set up and mine does exactly the same after reading this I'm gonna have a play around tomorrow
  10. The cambelt is very easy on that engine - well within a kitcar builders skills marks on both pulleys and a hydraulic tensioner that winds down with a 6mm Allen key but be we just used to push it down with the handle of a hammer as it's easier to let it self tension again
  11. You need to change the filters and oil a flush won't do any harm esp if you don't know the history also what size diesel is it the 1.4tdi or sdi also cambelt is wise around the 45-60k mark pm me if you need anymore help - ex VW tech

    Car Won't Start !

OK there is a micro switch on top of the throttle butterfly -if this does not click shut the car won't start since you have a high tick over is it possible the throttle is not fully closing keeping the micro switch open -
  13. Hi if you do a search on here you'll find I posted all the jet , tubes etc sizes for a 2.0 pinto now every engine is different but they will get you very very close Let me know if you can't find them and I'll see if I can dig them out TA

    Rivnuts And Fuel Tank

Yes I have done this but I bought some cork gasket material from CBS at 2mm thick to put in between works perfect -never had a problem
  17. Ok I would start with the wiring. If the gauges don't move it sounds like they are getting direct earths You can buy from car builder solutions a fuel gauge matcher to enable diff senders to work with diff gauges There are some simple tests you can try like dropping the temp sender you have in say the top of the rad when cold and run the engine for a while and as the water heats up see if the gauge moves. If the wiring is correct you should get some readings even if there well out. Do the gauges have live ,Earth and sender connections or a diff wiring set up.
  18. Hi has anyone thought of fitting a modern diesel engine to there hood I ask as something like a vw 2.0 engine can be tuned to around 230 bhp and still give 55mpg

    High Reving

Do you mean Erving high at idle. If so check for air leaks. Look for a vac hose from carb to distributer . or gasket. Easy way is spray carb cleaner around joints and or squeeze vac pipe closed. Let us know what you find.
