    Mazda Option

    Something like this perhaps:- .http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251678446716?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  3. You didn't follow the numbers properly its the "fallen Madonna with the big boobies"
  4. Pleased you got it sorted, as you say it's good to gain a bit knowledge at the same time!
  5. There is two ways of looking at this, sentiment v's hard cash. To get the Exmo through am IVA is going to mean stripping it back down and taking photos as it is rebuilt, which is fine but if you are paying some-one to do this it is going to cost a fortune. At the end of the day when you get the car through the test, what is it actually worth, I paid £2800 for mine last year, taxed and on the road. The other alternatives are to sell it as a unfinished project or as individual items the latter being to most likely to raise the most money as parts are getting hard to get hold of. It is going to be a hard decision but if it were me I would sell the bits and buy a complete car and then put my stamp on it.
  6. If it's the frame hitting the mount cover, can you not unbolt seat from the runner and position it further back using some flat bar and then attach to runners?
  7. I have finally given the fading gel-coat wings a coat of paint and decided to brighten up the wheels at the same time, i am quite pleased with the results for £75 for materials and using Aldi compressor and spray-gun.
  8. Can you remove studs with two nuts then you should be able to break the seal with a tap downwards with a block of wood and a hammer on the manifold flange ?
  9. Hope this is a birthday you never forget, and I hope you have many happy years together.
  10. Hi, yes I am going tonight, look forward to meeting you. I will be there about 8, Alan
  11. Are you sure it's oil not unburnt fuel, if the spark is poor on that cylinder or it is running rich a spell of stop start driving will foul the plug and show similar symptoms,i think i would try swopping plugs, leads etc first..
  12. I remember Jerry in the "Big Bertha" Firenza, I was servicing at Donnington and was able to watch Jerry and a full grid of Supercar monsters from the pit lane. the sight and sound of Jerry and Doug Niven in the VW side by side down the pit straight will always live with me. Happy days

    Strange Rattle

Hi, could you be a bit more specific as to what kind of rattle, is it a tinny sound or a more solid sound, does it happen at a certain time - under load or at a certain rev band . If you can give a bit more info then some-one will be able to advise you.

    Speeding

I have been thinking about my driving since this topic started and this is what I have concluded, I don't speed at all in 30 or 40 zones, on single carriage roads I do speed- but only when no other traffic is around, on motorways my top speed is 80 as I think the standard of driving on motorways is so bad that I wouldn't like to come up behind a car at any more than 10mph speed difference as their actions are unpredictable.I am sure we have all started to pull out into the fast lane to find that the car in the distance is doing 100 and is almost on top of you. I have been caught speeding once - in 1978 doing 95, and I am a fast driver, but I choose when I feel it is safe to speed.
  16. I think that those involved in working on Dave's car deserve a big vote of thanks, not just for the fine work they did but for the fine way they represented the club over the week-end. Without RHOCAR the show would have been poorly supported.
  17. Sorry to hear that , it sounds like the gasket now, if you need a hand just give me a shout, I'm away at Donington this w/e but any other time. Alan
  18. Hope it's ok Paul sounds like an air lock to me, as you say give it a run and see what happens.

    Iva Pass

Well done, I hope you never loose that grin, and make sure that you always make time to go out and enjoy the car.
  20. Robin Hood S7 registered as a Sparton so hasn't been through IVA, but it " qualifies for free tax" Any potential buyers please beware. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Robinhood-Kitcar-S7-With-2-Ltr-Pinto-and-Bike-carbs-Carbon-Wrapped-Super-Seven-/291218058348?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276

  24. I think I Am right that the sub-k was fitted with a McPherson strut not coil-overs as on the Exmo. I don't know where the sub-k struts were sourced from but the Exmo ones were from a P100 pick up and are next to impossible to get hold of now.
