There is this from GBS which is what I have on my kit: https://kitspares.co.uk/collections/instruments/products/smiths-international-gauge-set-mph They do it in a km/h version as well but that seems to be out of stock. When I was looking for gauges, these were the most reasonable for a new set. There were some cheaper ones on eBay but they looked rubbish IMO.

Hmmm, personally, I'm a 'if it 'aint broke....' kind of guy. If you're not sure about electrics and it works OK now, I'd be wary of changing it just so the wires (that you cannot see anyway) look better...you could be creating a whole load of problems. Sorry, just realised I said that in an earlier post already....

Yeah, the joys of kit cars, I'm afraid...but depends on if you are able to work on it yourself or not? If so, it's a cheap but time-consuming job, so have you got the energy for it? I've just a bought an older tintop which needs work that I cannot do so it's costing me a fortune to get a garage to do it for me - much more painful

Sorry, really can't remember - knowing me they would have been the first thing that came up that were the right size. I never really cared about brand names for parts. I still haven't changed the pads after 22k miles and they're still at least only half worn , if that. You get so much engine braking with a Zetec that you literally just don't brake anywhere near as much as a normal car.

TBH, my dash wiring looked an utter mess before I used loom tape to make it look pretty: https://zerolifebuild.blogspot.com/2016/09/taming-of-snake.html PS: I wouldn't recommend fabric loom tape, it's a b&st&rd to get off at a later date....insulation tape and various size of plastic conduit would be better IMO.

Ah, just commented in your other post but I see now what you are trying to do... If you don't have any actual problems, I would just tidy it up (bit of insulation tape will do wonders) and leave it alone (if it'aint broke...). The only other option is to rip it all out and start from scratch (there are companies that will do you a custom loom for £2-300). Electrics are magic, no-one understands them...

Dunno about you but when I looked at official wiring diagrams and tried to match them up to the real thing, it was damn impossible anyway... What are you trying to do - just fix a couple of issues or a complete re-wire?

Have you got actual pics of the areas? If not for us, may be useful in the test. You may struggle - mounting points on old kits are a fairly common failure point as nanny state are very hot on those. I would recommend adding as much strengthening plates as you can throw at it, especially if you are still at an early stage where you can get to the area easily.

That is double wishbone, which is pretty high-tech for an RH, no? Although I'd want that bottom wishbone to be one hell of a lot thicker than that - looks like it's been stretched out

I had exactly the same problem before IVA but luckily, I had a relaxed tester who allowed the tiny amount of self-centering I did have as a pass. What fixed it was getting the toe-in set to, in my case, roughly zero ie. dead straight. You will see discussions about how to do this using string and wood - personally, I can't see how that can work well but maybe (definitely, do not trust your eyesight, unless you're part-eagle). What I did was get a mate who had one of these DIY laser alignment kits. I did try to go to a garage who said they could do this with their professional kit but they couldn't get it underneath my front wheel arches. I believe it is better to have a small amount of toe-in (negative) but mine was done in a bit of a rush and it's been fine since, so I never bothered to get it done better.

Absolutely not - we tried to rebrand to the 'UK Kitcar club' so any kit car; RH, GBS, Caterham, Westfields, replicas - anything that may find us useful. We regularly post on FB groups telling people about us but, because of the crapness of FB, those posts soon vanish...I don't know if there is a way to make a post 'sticky' in FB?

Sadly, so many more people use FB these days, which I think is useless because I can never find old posts in FB - it seems to have a mind of its own when it comes to what it displays. All the posts are just lumped together, no order to it...rubbish. I used to use a GBS owners forum which had loads of great stuff but it got so quiet that GBS switched it off - ditto for the Tigers owners forum which recently just vanished. I think the biggest problem is that it is a little trickier to post pictures in a forum whereas it's much easier in FB. Personally, I hate typing on a phone (I use a tablet or PC) and the pokey screen size is annoying. Also, there are simply very few kit cars compared to the Audis/Scoobys, so far less people on the scene.

I would say an oil catch tank but confused where that orange pipe goes as it seems to be heading of down into the depths - on my Zetec, the oil catch tank is fed from the rocker cover on top ofmthe engine and I would have thought a Pinto should be similar?

Is anything like that required for IVA? They may check mounting points (although my guy didn't) but I've never heard of them testing the belts themselves. How would they - all they can really do is pull and check it locks, no?

Wow, never seen that before - will a rad even work like that? Doesn't it rely partly on gravity to get a flow?

Ironically, most of the digital dashes I've seen have been on bike-engined cars. Maybe their looms are better suited to a digital dash? Might be a struggle to get the existing wiring into a digital dash?
