  1. What are the emission requirements they are testing it to?

    Sump Removal

Dowty washer on a bolt would work fine.

    Led Wiring

You only need to add a resistor if you are using a standard flasher unit with leds
  6. I think you have an expensive alloy bellhousing, the other alternative cable is the cosworth one, There are 2 lengths, 4 wd and 2 wd, one is too long I’ve got that one!
  7. You may also need a spacer at the pedal box end, the original Sierra one had a nylon one with a slightly squishy rubber insert if I remember correctly.

    Carb Swap.

They may not be a straight swap, check the fixing ctrs the 32/36 DGAV and the 38 DGAS are approximately 93 x 46 ctrs, I think some of the smaller carbs have different fixings. You will also have to do a bit of fiddling with the jet sizes
  9. Found them now! other cat food is available.
  10. There are 2 possible problems changing from the RH 4:2:1 to their 4:1 manifold on a monocoque. Firstly the hole in the body side needs to be opened up forewards, I have a picture somewhere when I did it but can't find it at the moment. The next one, depending on the build the steering column may foul the manifold, I was lucky and it cleared. Fitting the manifold with the engine in place is tricky, it is possible by loosening the engine mounts and jacking up the engine to one side. The original manifold is not very efficient as the header lengths are all very different, the 4:1 is much better and sounds nicer. If you do a search on here you should find more information.
  11. Some 1.6 engine blocks are about 10mm shorter than the 2l The 1.6 Ecomax? (long stroke) engine is the same as the 2l
  12. It doesn’t keep the sun out of your eyes either
  13. Bike carbs are very sensitive to fuel pressure, too high and they will flood, there is not a lot of force keeping the needle valve shut. What fuel pump are you using?
  14. I too like the look of them but have changed to cycle wings partly as the tubes had rusted away. Cycle wings also make it easier to access the engine!
  15. They are good in the rain though and stop you getting hit by stones thrown up by the wheels. It's a matter of choice! The S7 had a bent tube that came up by the headlight support that the front of the clamshell fitted to and then holes were drilled through the flange of the wings and the side of the monocoque. There is a very confusing guide to doing it in the build manual, if you have a copy.

    Plug Colour

The carb screws will only affect slow running, what size mains have you got?

    Rhocar

I joined Rhocar at the end of 1996, it had been formed by combining the Robin Hood Owners Club with the Robin Hood Register. The internet was some weird thing that would never catch on, the phone bills were high, and someone in the house would pick up the phone extension just as you were about to do something important, but a few forums were starting. The 2 clubs had started to support owners who were trying to build cars with a very basic manual, it didn't help that the design seemed to change slightly from week to week. I believe there had been friction between the two organisations, I suspect there are a few members still who could confirm/deny this, but Rhocar was the upshot. In '96 there were over 500 members and 1000 at the end of '97 and 30 local area secretary's. The main communication was by the Magazines, 8 per year was the target with people asking questions and writing articles, instant answers to problems were not available then, magazines were eagerly awaited. There were some issues with personalities in the organisation that ordinary members got to hear about and some left unexpectedly. This is just to try to put some background into this club for newcomers, which has survived a long time, the internet has changed it dramatically, with knowledge available to anyone, instantly, not thumbing through back issues of magazines. It will be a tough task for the committee to steer the club forwards especially increasing or even maintaining membership but I wish them well. I hope to be at the show again this weekend.
  18. Sorry just double posting Dave Andrews link

    Mot's

Wal Phillips injectors, we're not all young Bob, I remember them, £6.17.6. I think the Reece Fish carbs operated in a similar way.
  21. Unlike a 7 I guess your front brakes are quite shrouded by the body work so airflow is probably restricted too.
  22. Mine started to fail, fortunately I removed it in time and replaced it with a new one from Baily Morris, see photos.
  23. Happy Birthday Nigel, I hope you are keeping well
  24. According to my brochure 'The Project 2B Plus has true independant suspension all around, with the aesthetically pleasing and correct double wishbones on the front' It also has stainless chassis and panels, rear coil overs, alloy wheels 4 branch stainless manifold, and wiring harness. It was £3 k +vat at the time.
  25. A local garage/exhaust place here has a real one and he stretched a pipe for me. Phone around you may be lucky.
