  1. If you get there early and need fuel, fill up first and then park up ready for a quick getaway when everyone else arrives.
  2. BBQ food now all ready (bar a few items). Weather has been great today. I'll see most of you at Rhug sometime after mid-day tomorrow. If there's any major delays or problems can everyone keep people informed - either myself or someone who'll be at the next meeting point so people know why they're waiting! If anyone else wants to come along, they're welcome but you'll probably need to camp which shouldn't be a problem to get on the day.
  3. Sounds Ok to me. Use M54 if you possibly can, will save you some time.
  4. Thanks for letting us know Keith, good luck with the house move.
  5. Drove up here yesterday for a weeks holiday and had an unusually good run. Left Tamworth later than usual at 15-20 but still made it to Dobbies at 16-30. The big news is that the M54 westbound now seems free of the roadworks that have plagued it for the whole of this year. All the yellow average speed cameras have been removed and no speed limit restrictions. I think it's probably worth considering the M54 for next Friday as it offers a decent time saving compared to the A5 even if you're only doing 65mph. Also scoped out Friday afternoon's run from Bala onwards and pretty much had the road to myself (everyone was stuck behind me). Just hope the weather next weekend is as good as yesterday.
  6. Looks more like a Luego Velocity.
  7. It's not a Dutton Sierra It's not a saloon It's not historic That leaves only one possibility It's a ringer. This is a Dutton Sierra and even at this size, I think I can spot the difference. http://media2.picsearch.com/is?Mf_b9NRgaCpOT0zlhXMIDcEfYMwtu_UEka0Vkd1L1Tc&height=72

    Iva Questions

Car Builder Solutions sell the IVA nut covers. http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/nut-covers If you've got the Sierra column it's has a collapsible section built into it and this should pass IVA. However, some examiners like to see the complete Sierra steering system used (rack, column and wheel). If I was doing IVA again, I'd stick a Sierra wheel on for the test and swap it later.
  9. Any examiner that falls for those shouldn't be testing cars!
  10. Go for the middle one - it's always good to be on a promise.
  11. They don't want to sell the item (or any more like it) but don't want to pull the listing, so they increase the price to a point where no-one will bid on it.

    It's Alive

Is this Keith's back-up car you're preparing for the Wales trip?
  13. Nice sunny day yesterday so we were out and about. It's rained non-stop today so I've been putting together my info cards for the weekend with local area map, contact phone numbers and a list of postcode destination points so people have got somewhere to aim for if we get badly split up. Thanks to those who have got back to me with their food orders for Saturday lunchtime. I'd like to get all the food pre-orders by next Thursday night AT THE LATEST so I print the sheet off before I'm up here on holiday and don't have access to a printer. I can take later pre-orders but it makes my life a bit more difficult. If you don't want food, or want to order on the day - LET ME KNOW, and I'll know you've not been missed. I'll have the menu and list at the monthly meet on Wednesday and can take orders then if necessary.
  14. Imperial seat belt bolts are 7/16" UNF 20TPI (thread per inch), not 7/16" BSF which is 18 TPI. Basically, you've got the wrong tap.
  15. It should be, For neatness you could put heatshrink on the wire first and then run it up tight to the soldered loop and shrink it down.
  16. Strip 55mm of the wire, twist the conductor strands together then wrap this around something 16mm diameter finally solder the wire to form a closed loop.
  17. Next Wednesday, 29th July, 7pm onwards, Malt Shovel Pub, Coventry Road, Nr Stonebridge, Coventry, CV7 7HL https://maps.google....ingdom&t=m&z=15 Entrance to pub car park is off the A452 Chester Road heading North 50 yards from the island. I'll be bringing along the menu for the Wales Weekend Saturday lunch for anyone else who wants to pre-order. See you there!
  18. Good plan Steve. I've got a pair and I think Gaz has as well, most of the Leics guys do to so I think between us we should be OK is we spread the group so that there's a radio in at least every other car. I'm also going to try and program a spare satnav with the routes but this doesn't help if I swap things around on the day.
  19. Less than 3 weeks to go now so time to firm up some more details. I’m on holiday the first week in August so I want to tie up a few things before then and avoid any last minute panic. I spend an enjoyable day last Saturday running around most of Saturday’s driving route and see if any adjustments need to be made. Knowing that we have a bigger group of car and more people means that some things need to be planned differently to previous years. We will be stopping for lunch on Saturday at The Old Ship in Trefriw again. However, in view of the group size and the work involved in ordering and preparing the food, I’m suggesting that where possible, we pre-order lunch and they have agreed to have it ready for us when we arrive. Obviously this won’t apply to hot food so I’ve attached their lunchtime sandwich menu for those that want to pre-order. If this is you, please send your choice to me by pm (to keep this thread relevant) and I’ll make a list, get the pub to have the orders ready for us and probably pay up front to save time on the day. This means that anyone who pre-orders food only needs to sort out his or her drinks and reimburse me for the food at some point over the weekend. People not wishing to pre-order or who want hot meals can still order and pay on the day. The pub’s website is here: http://www.the-old-ship.co.uk/ I’d like to get a confirmation of anyone else who’s planning on coming along who’s not shown below: richyb66 and Jackie Gaz and Steve Andi Chris (Tractor) Kerry and Sharon Derek and Marylin Jez (Jez Morton) and Dan Steve (Thrashed) Trevor (RedTrev) and Brian Keith (unclechief) Ade (ac01) Bob (florin) and Mo Mal and Jill (mal) Nick (nicklogistics) Martin T, Isabell & Karen + Stuart and Sue Stuart (theduck) and Sarah As last year, I’m putting together some A4 Nefyn local area maps to show where accommodation is. I’d like to put some contact phone numbers on the sheets so everyone can keep in touch. So if there’s no objections, can I have mobile numbers by pm for the following people please (the others I already have) and I’ll send my number back to you. Chris, Derek, Keith, Ade, Bob (had your number but now can’t find it!!), Mal, Nick Jackie has asked about the people that might be coming on the weekend but aren’t coming on the Saturday drive. If they want some suggestions for things to see, let me know and I can put some information together so you’ve got a few options.
  20. I would come over, but last time I did my wing-man Jez left me alone with one of the locals who basically talked me to death until we were the last 2 people in the car park!!
  21. Leics Area Meet - perfect for enochlophobiacs.
  22. The form is here: http://www.rhocar.org/index.php?showtopic=40646&st=30#entry329377 Closing date for entries is 7th August, send them to Phil Shelton.
