  1. No problem picking up a flag - (remembering to do it is another matter !). I'm surprised there's not a bit more interest in this, it looks like a decent day out. Maybe we'll get more interest when the sun starts shining.
  2. My understanding is that the VHI category is for cars made over 40 years ago, NOT for kits built more recently using an older car as a donor. Unless a kit was actually built over 40 years ago I think some rule bending may have taken place for it to be classed as VHI. Kit cars can be registered with an age related plate, based on the age of the donor car, as long as sufficient parts of the donor have been used. This is only how I understand it, and I could be wrong, but I think VHI classification would be low on my list of priorities if I was buying a built kit car.
  3. There were several versions of "standard" 2.0 pintos - carb. or injection, high and low compression etc. What you can do with them depends on what you're starting off with. Generally speaking, some work on the head and a camshaft change should get you towards 150hp, after that it's probably more economical to swap it for something more modern. There were also quite a few models of Robin Hood which are significantly different (monocoque or tubular chassis for example). You'll find there are lots of improvements listed on here for the various types, as long as you know what sort you're buying. Hope this helps, Steve
  4. Hi Neil, it's a bit of a run out for me but I quite fancy it if (hopefully) the car's running OK by then. I think going on Sunday 2nd might be the better day though ................ ha ha ! Count me in as definitely interested, Steve

    Engine spares

Found the dizzy, see photos below. I'm pretty sure 1.6, 1.8 & 2.0 are the same, is this what you're after ?

    Engine spares

Hi Neil, I have some 2.0L pinto bits in the garage somewhere !!!! I don't think I've got a stat housing but I think there's a distributor in there. I'm assuming it's the gear on the dizzy shaft you're looking for ? I'll have a rummage round later and see what I can find. Steve
  7. There were instruction videos originally but I don't think they were all that helpful. Somebody on here might be able to point you in the direction of a copy. There are a few build stories and similar on here which might help - this one has quite a lot of useful information :- https://www.webarchive.org.uk/wayback/en/archive/20141103114552/http://www.colinusher.info/Robin Hood/index.html Good luck, Steve
  8. The sun's shining and I've started cleaning the garage up. These were fitted to the Sumo shortly before I bought it and have done less than 100 miles. I'm fitting different tyres when it goes back together so I don't need these. They are - Accelera Ecoplush 225/60R15 and I've got the receipt from last year for £158. I'm looking for £60 for the pair, collection from Stoke-on-Trent, if anyone's interested.
  9. Can't wait !! we really enjoyed it last year.
  10. Hi Roger, I used to jack mine up under the diff. and lift both rear wheels at once. You can also lift almost anywhere under the side chassis tubes, just use a piece of wood to spread the load and stop the top of the jack digging in to the bottom edge of the body panels. 13psi sounds about right for the radiator cap, I'm working from memory here ( which isn't as good as it used to be) but I think 12-15 was the range for a 2L pinto and I don't think it was any different for a 1.6. Hope this helps, Steve
  11. I've just stumbled across this which is only a couple of miles from me - https://www.rotary-ribi.org/clubs/page.php?PgID=869456&ClubID=1253 If anyone's interested let me know and if there's a few of us I'll see if I can arrange for a club space. Steve
  12. Put me down for this please Peter, any chance you can order the same weather as last year ?? Thanks, Steve

    Rear axle offset

I had something similar with my 2B. The rear wings weren't equal sizes which didn't help and the rear suspension was about 5mm off centre. I ended up fitting a 10mm spacer behind the nearside hub to get the wheels in the right place and then "adjusted" the rear wings to match the wheels. It was a lot of faffing about for something that probably wouldn't have been noticed by any one else. I've got a similar problem now with the cobra - the body is a couple of mm off centre, relative to the chassis. This time it's staying as it is, and if anybody notices they're welcome to put it right for me !! Hope this helps, Steve

    Sheds

We put a plastic shed up at the daughter's about 5 years ago. It seemed fairly flimsy at the time but it's still standing. There is no maintenance other than oiling the door hinges and it looks as good as it did originally. I'd have to say that it still feels flimsy but it has stood up to the weather, the grand-kids and the neighbour's kids (who climbed on the roof). Hopefully it will be good for a few more years. Steve
  15. Hi Darren, I could be wrong but I thought all the Sierra ones were 22mm. I'm working on (dodgy) memory from a few years back when I swapped mine, but I think some of the Cortina and Escort ones were 20mm so it might be worth having a look to see if they match up. Good luck, Steve
  16. Sorry can't help with the screen but I'm just thinking that I had a similar issue with my 2B and realised (eventually) that my seat was too high and the top of my head was above the roll bar. If you rest a length of wood between the roll bar and the top of the windscreen you'll be able to tell if your head is above it. I managed to get my seat fitted quite a bit lower and that then got my head below the roll bar and I was then looking through the glass rather than the frame. I did eventually fit a larger screen as well. Hope this helps, Steve
  17. As Nelmo says - definitely recommend Rich. Well worth having a chat with him. Steve

    Antifreeze

As far as I know you can use either the old "blue" or the newer OAT orangey red colour but you shouldn't mix them. Have a look what colour is in at the moment and use the same. If there's nowt in you should be able to use either but the blue should be changed every couple of years while the red lasts a lot longer. Hope this helps, Steve
  19. Hi Andi, I don't think I could eat all the salad !!!! All being well I'll see you there. Steve
  20. Looks like the club might have folded - I've tried to contact them & the emails bounce back. Doesn't look like there's been any activity on the facebook site for a while either.
  21. Hi Andi, I didn't get back from the daughter's until nearly 12 and it was raining here then, so I didn't go. It's not the easiest of places to find because the cars are parked sort of up the side & behind, but did you find the brewery?
  22. I'm hoping to make it - the kit's back together again but apparently I've volunteered to help get a new settee and chairs into the daughter's house on Sunday, problem is that she doesn't know what time it's going to be delivered !!!!!!
  23. I'm thinking somebody is a bit too enthusiastic with the cut and paste here. I'll hopefully be there on 25th August - just so I can moan about the roadworks again !!
  24. Hi Liam, I was planning on using all 5 of them but I do have another one that I put safe somewhere. I've just had a quick look and it wasn't where I thought it was (no surprise) - but if I can find it you're welcome to it That's assuming that just 1 would be of use to you. Steve
  25. Hi Martin, some 2Bs came with a "Vicki Green" loom. Here's the drawing for it ............ If that's the loom you've got you should be able to work things out with the info. about the Sierra from Sparepart above. Good luck, Steve vicki_green_pinto_wiring_loom.pdf
