  1. www.demontweeks.co.uk -> Water pumps (in motorsport) - a choice of 10 from £70 (might be cheaper elsewhere) -steve
  2. A little bit of ventilation and a "marine dehumidifier" (defrosts itself below 0C !? ) on a timer switch 8am to 2pm in winter is what I use (no heater). -steve
  3. I put in a remote brake reservoir and my IVA tester (Southampton) didn't like it (had to prove that he piping was brake fluid compatible and other things - I used copper plumbing with bleed valves!). So I just shoved the reservoir on the master cylinder and cut a big hole in the scuttle and shielded with stainless to keep it in the engine bay. Would take photos, but I'm away from home for two weeks. Ask us all as many questions as you like, it's only the silly ones you wont get (sensible) answers to. -steve
  4. Nippy when there's only one of you. Load it with four average people and go uphill on the motorway..... different story. And the air-con my daughter has in hers takes time to get going.

If you're referring to the original display cluster (which was identical to one wifey had in a 1998 fiesta), then yes - sort of followed the wiring instructions. But replaced it since then with a digital speedo (www.digital-speedos.co.uk) as there were too many other problems (speedo read too high and cable kept breaking, couldn't see the warning lights in daylight). -steve
  6. Belt slip? I occasionally suffer a loss of a small amount of steering pump fluid (albeit no power steering) - and this is located by the belt. A good warm run usually dries it out. -steve

    Rear Fog Light For Iva

    1N5401 are 3A diodes (or 1N5402, 1N5403 etc. - all ok at 12V). And, erm... 2 x 12V = 24W so a 21W bulb will take just under 2A. But, on the high-street it's easier to get 3A diodes (1N5401). -steve
  8. Any space for two more? (at the moment just Saturday). -Steve & Val
  9. It's amazing what a bit of autoglym can do - oh, and I polished the car too!
  10. LOL - the first thing she said was "Drive slowly!", so there we were driving at 30mph in 40 and 60 zones - but the cars behind were patient.
  11. Sent them a complaint (especially as I am a member - and maybe soon to be ex-member). Just waiting to see if they respond or ignore me.

Father and daughter - but she hadn't practised getting out (exhaust on her side)! http://northhampshire.newsprints.co.uk/view/28154809/18900172_jpg http://northhampshire.newsprints.co.uk/view/28154810/18900175_jpg -steve
  13. Just venting my anger after last week got tailgated by one driver LG60CMK into Castleton (Derbyshire) who then gave me an almight blast on the horn as I slowed for my destination. Gone are the days when the AA would respect other drivers. Scummy cowboys. -steve
  14. Recently when idling after being driven, my car has taken to dumping a quantity of coolant through the expansion-bottle filler valve (this is coolant and not steam). Car is ok and just needs re-topping up next time it's used. Upset the MOT examiner last friday when he had it at high-revs for some time (emissions test) and it peed all over the floor (didn't he have an unlucky Friday 13th). Obviously cooling needs to be improved - faster fan turn-on reaction. But what is the mechanism that is causing this? Is there air in the system? It could be sucking air back from the air-pocket at the top of the expansion bottle. Over the last year I have failed to successfully add in a heater, thereby changing/re-routing some of the secondary coolant pipe-work. Before adding the heater, I never really had this problem - i.e. once it had happened, it never did it again, I assumed I was just venting any trapped air in the system. Initially I need a quick fix, so any (constructive) comments welcome. Car is a Superspec Cheers, -Steve
  15. Two roast chickens and one cottage pie (no starters, just desserts). Ta - steve
  16. Three please (Steve + Val + Leanne). Will get menu choices to you asap - but will probably miss the Wednesday deadline for this one. Cheers, -steve
  17. When it's going really bad and everything you try and do just makes it worse, walk away from the problem and come back to it tomorrow. (I always seem to have my best ideas first thing in the morning in the shower). -steve
  18. As an aside to a superspec register, I was led to believe that there were 100 of these kits, so you have a lot of kits to find. Looking at the chassis number, I am also assuming that the last two digits might indicate the kit number. In my chassis number, I started with three letters, then four digits which coincidentally corresponded to the month and year of sale, eight identical digits, and finally two random digits - which I guess might be the kit number (70 for me). Can anyone support or dispel the myth? Cheers, -steve
  19. Missed this topic going off-topic - add me to your list. Steve (bullfist) Basingstoke, Hampshire 2.0 Rover + MT75 gearbox Taxed and OTR, but discovered last weekend that I need a sump guard after potholing.
  20. Wasn't the lightweight binned as there was no strength in the chassis (an IVA fail)? Or am I thinking of something else?
  21. When I was building mine, at one time I was working away from home, so got wifey to phone him with a (simple) technical question. Unfortunately, things went badly for wifey and Tricky "had a go at her" - expecting those that phoned him with technical questions to be technical. Wifey was very upset. Tarnished his image. Many months later, when I phoned a technical question, he did remember, and did apologise (perhaps Gina had prompted him). Too late. However, as my daughter taught me: be nice to people and they'll be nice back; if you're nasty to them once, they'll always have a reason to be nasty back to you (something like that). -Steve
  22. My MOT listed my superspec at 820kg. Have towed this on a trailer with a P-reg diesel transit, and petrol Honda Crv. -steve
  23. I used them about 2 years ago. Spotted a digital speedo in the CBS catalogue, but decided their price was too high, so searched Ebay. Came across digital-speedos in ebay - from there also looked at their direct web-site, and phoned them too, to place the order. Very good service, and the price was favourable. They did say, if there were any questions just to phone for an answer. There was some ambiguity in the manufacturers instructions, but managed to figure it out, so didn't need to talk to them. In short, I would use them again. -steve
  24. Hi, Haven't been following this topic recently, so a few comments. Do you have a copy of the original wiring diagram? IIRC RH gave us three relays - cannot remember what for - but I can look on the diagram. I guess that's what the three relays in the right of the picture are. As for everything else, seems like you might have to disconnect one item at a time (relay, fuse) and see what doesn't work, and make a note for future reference - a bit of a tedious job. Sorry, not very helpful. -steve
