  1. Its all in the book Haynes "build your own sports car". Worth buying just for interest.
  2. I found the grub screws supplied always come loose, if you can get a good fit to begin with. I used a piece of ali tube threaded on the inside to M10 and then bonded into the gear knob with araldite holds really well.
  3. Phil, if you can get over to Coventry i think Dave Mac props is still going. They will be able to sort the UJ, or supply parts.
  4. Nice to see the Leicester boys tonight had a smashing time.
  5. Another improvement you can try along with the others is fit an 82deg thermostat Burton sell them.
  6. I'd call it improved not repaired it did just do 500 miles to Wales and back. Please improve the fuel economy its better if you burn most of it.
  7. I'll be coming to the Leicester meet on Wednesday from Coventry if someone can get it to me.
  8. Met a nice couple at the B&B on the Wales trip, their driving a 1937 MG TA round Britain following the coast for charity. Have a look, make a donation if you want. http://www.numbum-round-britain.co.uk/
  9. Back safe and sound just little deaf after the last sprint down the motorway. Thanks to Rich and Jackie for all the hard work they put in to make the weekend so awesome.
  10. Keith take the kit to work have big lunch and get over, we'll all wait up for you in the bar. Dont worry about breaking down its not like we'd stop any way See you Friday
  11. I went with a tank extension and few issues I've found are. Angle of tank can reduce effective size. Take off on the side again reduces effective size. You need your return to return to the swirl pot if you dont you can empty it quicker than it will refill when low on fuel. Its better to have walls/baffles around the pot, if your take off is to one side you need to hold as much fuel as you can in the pot. Centrifugal forces when cornering will move the fuel especially when near empty. Definately fit a pump pre filter, sytec do one for around 20 quid that can have different fittings to match the pump. I think a good size would be around 1litre with baffles above. My efi system is Sierra so reg and pump is ford, i have the pump mounted behind the diff level with the take off. Jez

    Chris Who?

I think its sorted with Matt, Sabine and Eddie for the fun stuff. And the new guys and doing the reviews. As time goes on I can see the new guys taking over the presenting.
  13. Will be at the copper kettle waiting for Andi turn up at about 9:50 again. Good point Stu, fuel up when you get to Dobbies if eveyone tries to fuel when we leave its another half hour to get all the cars through.
  14. Good call will get viton when fittng arrives and I know what size I need. Do you guys think it would ok to drill the tank empty or do I to vent it or fill with water when I drill the hole?
  15. Cheers guys that looks just the job, now to google dowty washer?
  16. No hole, was thinking empty tank and fill with water above where hole is to be drilled.
  17. Hi all, I'm after an 8mm hose fitting I can fit to a RH fuel tank. It would need to bolt in and seal well as it will be low down on the tank. It needs to bolt in as tank is used and on car so no welding. Thanks
  18. I would remove the ball joint to check its length, could have been cut down especially if the thread in the tube wasn't long enough. I think a common issue used to be around the welds seem to remember on mine I had to retap the tube they may have been welded after the thread was cut.
  19. I used a transducer on the end of a speedo cable for my telemetrix speedo. Output is 4 pulses per revolution of speedo cable, speedo needed pulses per mile. Standard ford cable turns 1000 per mile so 4000 per mile for calibration. Set it, passed sva never touched it since 7 years on the road. I went this way because it was accessible where the prop isnt, didnt fancy dismantling car to glue a magnet back on.
  20. Any one got a fuel injection pump, mine might be playing up. Cheers Jez
  21. Should be there and I have a present for one lucky person.
  22. My old S7 was 1.6 based, replaced rear drums for bigger 2litre versions along with engine but kept the solid front disks. I didn't have any issues with this set up I think for the weight of car the smaller front disks were plenty good enough.
  23. Just got back from motofest, got to say this year they got it right something happening all the time and weather not bad. To sum it 'sun stroke and tyre smoke'.
