  1. I'm quite keen to try this too. I really want the proximity type or key slot that activates the power to then flick on with individual swtiches eg. fuel pump, injection, etc. Then have a start button either secretly hidden away somewhere to turn the engine over. Its currently sounding stupidly complicated however someone is bound to tell me shortly it's really simple....especially if I'm looking at making up my own loom from scratch in this rebuild......

    Steering Wheel

Mine was from eBay. Cheap, easy and does the trick. Had it since passing IVA in Feb 2014 and still going strong.
  3. Everyone knows these tests aren't real world tests. One cycle was something like accelerate 20mph to 60mph in 30 seconds. Who accelerates that slow? MPG is also calculated from these tests too arent they? Should I take Alfa Romeo to court for compensation over quoting 25mpg average when I'm seeing 20mpg average? Don't be silly (unless you're a lawyer and will do this all for me no win, no fee? haha) End of the day the defeat device is for the testing, real world experience won't change. If you bought a diesel for the mpg, you will still see the same mpg. Whack VW with a bill for the difference their proper map puts out, save on the recall (why bother spending time and money removing a defeat device that's only active under test???), big hefty fine too for good measure. Re-design the test to bring it up to date and realistic. No one sees the MPG figures quoted, why would emissions be any different?
  4. I got my digital speedo from this place. Good range and very fast delivery. Possibly more tailored towards bikes though http://www.digital-speedos.co.uk/
  5. Surprisingly my rebuild is still to fully start so quite possibly in the Zero...if I remember to get fuel....I'll be there kit car or not
  6. I wonder if this had anything to do with it.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-coventry-warwickshire-34327038
  7. When I was a student, me and my flatmate told them we only used a TV monitor for games consoles/PC use. They stopped harassing us after that and never even came to verify our situation. We had anticipated a visit due to having "a device capable of receiving live TV" but it never came until a letter asking if our circumstances had changed which even then had the threatening language explaining all the court action and fines if we hadn't told them of a change. Strange how if you don't acknowledge them they continue to harass you and threaten court action and investigations but as soon as you say "Yes, I have a TV but don't watch live TV" they stop....I had admitted to owning a TV but it's ok because all of a sudden my word means something to them?
  8. only to his wallet
  9. You won't have enough power in that Pinto to do much damage .....hence rotary
  10. Nah it will be continued through a rotary swap power lol

    Garage

At that rate you may as well put a minibar and chandelier in too!
  13. Halfords will make a plate up off the insurance document who only need you to tell them what it is. It's what I did but I don't know how legit it was though. I got the call from the DVLA saying the registration number and then was straight on the phone with my insurance then once they emailed the insurance cert I printed it off and was driving later that day. It did take the Highway around a month before they could find the car on the database though
  14. No problem, I understood it as ideas to expand to appeal to the variety of members at the club (some like to chill and chat, others may like an autocross style competition as well - away from the other activities of course, health and safety and all that) was just a thought for those who have a competitive streak/want to play with their cars too. Eitherway, from what everyone is saying anyway it sounds like it was pretty much spot on as it is

    Wrapping

I wrapped my bonnet and scuttle on my own. Would have been easier with 2 people but not impossible. As Alex says, its great and you can't tell the difference until you're closer. I have a brushed steel effect and always have people running their hands over it and getting really close to see. I'm looking at painting mine as I prefer a deep gloss/metallic look that I'm yet to find a suitable vinyl for. However the vinyl is easier to do and less work to get looking top notch. Check my blog for the pictures
  16. Unfortunately I was too busy to make it this year however the feedback is making it a must next year. Would a circuit or disused airfield and cones be out of the question?
  17. Price negotiable, can do individual items if people require them
  18. Thanks Stu! For some reason I can't start a thread or message but I can always comment. Silly work internet filter! L I also have some multispoke wheels (mazda fitment 4x100) 15 inch wheels and tyres for sale too, £200, PM me if you want pictures as my photobucket is also playing up
  19. I have a Mazda Mx5 mk1 1.8 Engine+gearbox for sale about 130 bhp out the box, plenty of tuning options. ITBs superchargers, turbochargers etc etc. Plenty of people run up to 200bhp with these, just ask Tazzzman about his supercharger build done by Red 7 Engineering (steamer on the forum) Put one in with a decent exhaust and you'll free up a few more. I have a 25 year old, 120k miles 1.6 engine in putting out 113bhp (115 standard/new from the factory) and I'm fairly sure the exhaust system recovered any loses from all that and made up for the poor intake set up I have lol. p.s. I also have all the other running gear available too currently if you're interested in doing a complete engine swap

    Garage

I tried to convince my parents to help me buy a house that had a conservatory at the back which had access through the garage and then a set of massive rear doors for the conservatory. I was pretty confident I'd be able to have got the Zero in there for the rebuild

    Log Book!

I keep wanting a Capri.....but to V8 swap it I think I'll stick with my current project list for now....
  24. When I first passed my test I was a statistic waiting to happen. Luckily I have so far made it to 23 and no amount of speeding fines, scare tactics or horror stories ever made me think about my speed or how I was driving. Even more so when I drove a defender and ended up with the general mindset of "anyone hits me they'll come off a lot worse" What did get me was the realisation that in the Zero, if anything serious happened, chances are I'd be using the last of my luck. Death by Ford KA is not something I want on my headstone lol. Eitherway nothing brings you to your sense quicker than feeling exposed and that helped me big time. Still doesn't prevent the spirited drive, thats what the car is for. But its the trackdays that allow me to test the limits, not public roads.
