    Roadworks

It must be a stretch they missed, now that you have told them the cones will be out tomorrow. you should come up to Northumberland we have a whole county with no motorway roadworks- we have no motorways!
  2. Must be nice seeing it actually on wheels, you are making great progress, what is the next milestone-first start up?
  3. I am going in the kit, with the roof on !!!!!!!!!

    Cracks

I haven't softened the front springs for two reason , firstly the car suits my style of driving, I have it stiff at the front and softer at the back which means I don't get any roll on the front end and the back end is soft enough to allow plenty of grip to put my limited 1600cc power down, It may not make sense to others but as I say it works for me .Secondly, softening the front springs will mean that the front struts will have to do a lot more work to damp the suspension movement. Because you can't get hold of the struts anymore, anything that preserves their life has to be a good thing. When the time come to change the struts I have plans to convert to a wishbone setup and then I will consider softer springs.

    Cracks

I have a mild steel mono Exmo That has been on the road for 18 years and covered 60,000 miles and the bulkhead corner plate on the passenger side had a 2 inch crack appear 2 years ago which I welded up without any strengthening and it has been fine since. I noticed that the drivers side is just starting to crack so that will be sorted the same way. My car runs 180lb springs and tie-bars.

  8. Is that so you can find the missing brake spanner before it drops off on the road?
  9. Thats the way that I have always understood the regulations So it just means that I would be loosing a couple of weeks MOT if it passes first time. I have been stopped when taking an untaxed car for its test but when I told them I had an appointment for the test they were fine about it.
  10. I will be there in the kit whatever the weather.
  11. Rather than just "liking" this I would just like to thank you for a interesting and informative reply.
  12. Yes you will need a new cap.

    Log Book!

I just posted that above to show what a minefield it is for any new buyer of a kit car, I agree it is probably a wrong one and is best avoided like the plague. Someone on Ebay is selling a Mk bare chassis with a V5 which is going to end up as a dodgy car that some poor unsuspecting person is going to buy. These cars are being sold without any checks why doesn't the DVLA pick up on these sort of things.

    Log Book!

But, who's to say that it wasn't pre SVA where it was for example a Robin Hood with a Fiat engine and the builder decided to call it a a Fiat 2- seater sports? and got the log book with that info.
  16. If you go on Accusparks website you will see whats available, you can even get a discount I believe through the club.As far as I am concerned the Bosch distributor is the best one to have.

  20. Big thanks to Lee for organizing a great weekend, thanks for all who came along for making it so enjoyable, I was pleased to play my part in setting a record of the most lost within the first 10 minutes of the run out!!!!! Will be back next year for more of the same please.
  21. I tried 10mm spacers on mine and got 47mm studs, but these were too short to be comfortable, in the end I didn't like the handling with the spacers and went back to none, on yours it will all depend on the thickness of your wheel cenltre. I was wanting at least 10 full turns so to get that i would have needed to go to 63mm studs.
  22. If you know what the radiator is out of it may be worth pricing a new one, its quite surprising how cheap they can be.
  23. Pleased your Dad had a good day, we had loads of interest in our cars, good weather, massive attendance, so a great day. , ,
