  1. Hi Darrell If you are just driving down for 1 day I would make it the Saturday as people tend to start to drift off home around lunch time on the last day of a show, Sunday in this case. Newark was always a very good show in the past. Dave.
  2. If you have the long wings like Nelmo describes then that is a definate factor. The aero dynamics of those are all wrong and create lift. Dave.
  3. What tyre pressures are you running with. The Robin hood models are quite light and most owners use 18 to 20 psi. Too high a pressure could be the problem. Dave.
  4. That's an ugly looking weld. It hasn't failed on the original joint line, but as you say, it's failed in the toe of the weld in the heat affected zone. I would be tempted to grind some of the original weld cap down as the difference in thickness of the weld and parent material at the other side of the crack could be a problem due to uneven cooling rates. Also apply some pre heat to the area (if safe to do so) with a blow torch or sometime similar just before welding and control the cool down rate after welding again with the blow torch. A slow cool is better than a fast one. Best of luck. Dave.

    Sad News

Ivan was a trooper when it came to turning up for events and shows. Always willing to chat. Sadly missed. RIP Ivan. Dave
  6. Yes, that price tag did raise a few comments. It was/is a very nice car, but as you say £34k!!
  7. Cars and coffee 11th June. GBS, sponsored event. I missed the last one but intend to go to this one next Saturday. Unless it's chucking it down. Dave.
  8. Put me on the list for this please. Dave Howe.
  9. Why don't you get yourself to Stoneleigh kit car show this weekend. A good opertunity to see lots of different RH/GBS cars and have a chat with club members. Not 2 cars the same and loads of ideas to inspire..... hopefully! Dave.
  10. Are you arriving Saturday afternoon? If so, what time. I'm always willing to help set up, move things around etc. Is the AGM planned for the weekend too. Dave.
  11. Absolutely brilliant turn out today, greatly helped by the weather. Hundreds of cars of all ages and types as well as a fair number of kit cars. They do have club stands so this is a possibility for our club if enough interest is generated in the future. Definitely a show I will do again. Dave
  12. Notts Classic Car & Motorcycle Show. 10th Oct. Held at Thoresby Park near Newark. Many types of cars including kit cars. I went to the one held in August and there must have been around 500 vehicles. Weather forecast looks promising at the moment.
  13. Another option for the coming weekend, Sunday and Monday, 29th & 30th Aug. Called Notts Classic Car & Motorcycle Show. It's at Thorseby park near Ollerton, Newark. Allsorts of cars including kit cars, bikes etc. £5 per vehicle paid on entry. Just search Thorseby park car show for details if you fancy this one. Dave.
  14. I plan to be there all being well. Hope to see some familiar faces. Dave.
  15. You are probably best making your own to fit your car and the cycle wings you have got.
  16. I've had both over the years. Weber's were always going out of balance and contently needed fiddling with (or so it seemed). I changed to R1 bike carbs and once sheet up have been fine. 2.1 pinto by the way.
  17. If you have a mechanical fuel pump fitted, that could be the problem. The fuel in the carbs will evaporate over a few days. It then takes the pump a while to resupply them. If you fit an electric pump this problem should be solved. If you already have an electric pump, then carry on with the head scratching!
  18. Mine is on the bulkhead between the battery and the peddle box. It's much smaller than yours though. It holds about 1 litre. Can't remember filling it up more than once in the last 16 years actually.
  19. I assume that this is still on. Weather forecast for Saturday looks good.
  20. Don't forget about this one guys and gals. I will hope to have a run over weather permitting.
  21. Some of you are stating pressure in psi and others in bar. There is a big difference. 1 bar = 15 psi.
  22. We had a couple of instances at the Huntingdon weekend where a couple of cars suffered poor starting and miss firing. This was on the run in the afternoon (saturday) and put down to fuel evaporation due to the high temp. Have a run out in the evening when its a bit cooler and see what happens.
