    Vin stamp

The Stamped in VIN must be marked on the chassis, frame or other similar structure which is not easily removable, on the right hand side of the vehicle when viewed from the rear. (see Notes 6, 8, 9 and 12) Note 12: Where the ‘stamped in VIN’ is stamped on to a separate metal plate it must be secured to the frame by a continuous seam weld around the entire length of the plate; tack or spot welding should not be considered an appropriate method of attachment for such a plate. To stamp the number into a tubular chassis member is not always practical but there may be instances where it could be stamped in another similar part of the vehicle structure which is not easily removable. You will also need the manufactures plate fitted with the details required as in Statutory Plates 18
  3. Many thanks Richyb66, Weather permitting should be there, will be leaving home about 10.00
  4. Any firm directions on where the site is on Tamworth road B78 2DL is in the middle of a field opposite Cliff lakes Road? Can't find a Pub called Tameside on google maps. What about Cliff Hall Lane opposite The Malt House? Can anyone give a true location for the meet up. As I was thinking of coming with my friend Saturday morning.
  5. Hi Jon, I have sent you an email with pictures of mine while building. Regards Martin
  6. Hi Jon, Just did a search on the forum and came across this that may help you with your boot area.
  7. Hi Richy, As the rivets are along the centre tunnel sides I am sure that they will not cause a problem showing through the carpet. The seats hide some of the inner line of rivets. Jon is more concerned about the look of the underside of the car. Regards Martin
  8. Hi Jon, Picking up the pieces from the former builder is always an issue of how much work you wish to take on. You can be very brave and completely strip the car back to the bare chassis as my Son and I did or skip over some of the things. (Drill out all the rivets and fit the other way round from outside to inside that would make it look better from the underside.) We removed everything including the floor, welded all the holes up and completely started again by fitting and drilling a new 1mm sheet to the chassis the other way up after many modifications to the chassis first. My car luckily had been assembled with self tapping screws in the floor panels. You need plenty of storage space to put all the items you take off and remember where you put it all. Have you a garage you can strip the car and be able to work in? Can send you pictures to big to go on here at the moment. Regards Martin

  10. Hi Neil, The colour of the plastic has no bearing on the switch you require for your engine. Burton Power switch part no. XOPS9 is the correct part at £7.00 + delivery https://www.burtonpower.com/standard-oil-pressure-switch-1-4npt-xops9.html Regards Martin
  11. Hi Mark, I believe that Nick & Neil are looking to replace the switch that warns when you have NO oil pressure, the dash oil light, not a guage pressure sender unit if my thinking is correct.

    expansion bottle

(Before Waterless Coolant) you need EVANS PREP FLUID to clean your engine. Not cheap to change from water to waterless Just under £100.00 to prep and fill with 5 litres. Then you will need another 5 litres to fill your system so would be looking at about £150.00 to change over.
  17. Hi to answer your question the oil pressure switch is shown, and would be wired to the dash warning light marked oil. that lights when you have NO OIL Pressure, when you switch on the ignition and should go out when the engine is started. If you want to fit an oil pressure gauge then you need a Tee piece for the pipe or sender unit to fit.
  18. Here's a better picture the correct way round. Too the right of the oil filter is the PCV Valve above that is the manifold water temp sensor. Too the right of the engine mounting is the oil pressure switch. Hope that helps you. You will find the water temp gauge sensor above the distributor area in the picture.

  23. Hi Jon, Not sure if GBSC (https://www.greatbritishsportscars.com/) may be able to help you out with any panels or parts that you require? You could give them a try as they still stock some items or maybe able to help you. Regards Martin
  24. Hi Jon welcome to the club. Now to the videos you can only describe them as a budget edition performance at best with the dog liking to get in on the picture as well. Richard & his wife made a brave effort to explain how to do the basic's in know particular order. The car kit at the time was a very low price and I could see that their video making left a lot to the builder to understand. At least the builder of the kit had a help line to phone if they could get through. Regards Martin
