  3. Well done Chris. Thought on this lovely spring evening. I'd. Go for a Dr.......ping clutch cable change
  4. My lovely partner got me the Koso DB02R gauge for xmas http://www.digital-s...r-kit-120-p.asp They replaced the sierra gauges from my donor which used the sierra fuel level sender with hole in tank cut to suit that sender. The Koso fuel gauge has 2 settings 100 ohms and 510 ohms. My research suggests that the 100 setting suits Honda motorcycles and the 510 suits Yamaha motorcycles. Neither setting suits the ford sender, the 100 setting gave some readings with the sierra sender but nothing with the 510. I wanted a more accurate fuel gauge so I purchased the Fuel gauge wizard http://www.digital-s...auges-307-p.asp This worked well, easy to set up and unfortunately easy to break which I did (stupidly and through no fault of the gizmo) So having spent 30 quid and failed I looked for a cheap solution. I bought a second hand fuel level sender from a Honda VFR800 for about £10. On the bike the sender fits to the bottom of the tank so upside down for my purpose my sender fits to the top of the tank. I want to keep the sierra fuel level senders top and seal so I don't have to mess with my tank hole. so a bit of butchering of both senders and measuring of tank depth and I get this I now have a hybrid Ford/Honda sender which reads on the 100 ohm scale on the Koso, no need for a wizard. Hope this helps someone else save £20. Ozz
  5. Lets have a Top Gear style support vehicle/alternative car to follow us in case of breakdowns. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Austin-Allegro-/251485160517?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3a8daf0445
  6. Is it possible that 1st builder has swapped the hubs on the drive shafts to make them fit the carriers on the wrong side?

    Flat Battery

I have a small denso alternator on mine, the multi plug on the back came off at a rolling road session, this disconnected the warning light and prevented the alternator from charging the battery. I have put a blob of sealant on it now and always check the light comes on before starting. Check this and the alternator wiring if applicable. Ozz
  9. Thanks Alan from me Gill and Tabby - great meet and I got a pass out afterwards just got back from a 70 odd mile run with Simonp73 :-)
  10. I am after (two) engine coolant temperature sensors from the inlet manifolds from an injected pinto or DOHC (not the gauge sender). I'd also be interested in an air temp sensor from a DOHC. I want to do an experiment to see if I can get my EEC IV to run my ignition timing a little better by giving it some temperature data which it currently lacks. If anyone has a sensor knocking about that they don't need any more I'd be happy to pay for it and postage. PM me if you have one I can have. Thanks Ozz

  12. As Ian's list but with jump leads and a spare clutch cable. Oh and my mans van is orange.
  13. My car and I have never done these kind of distances before and the car has had some changes over winter so has not been driven since November. I want to use the trip up to aclimatise myself and for the car to prove itself. To be confident and build confidence I think I need to be on good well serviced A roads and have the support of the convoy. I don't like motorways in the zero (A1M being a necessary evil) so Dan's route gets my vote. I would like to do Northumberland as I too have spend alot of time there on family holidays and diving trips to the farne islands. I will do it one day and maybe at the end of this trip. Ozz
  14. Ian just to let you know that I cannot pass Seahouses without Fish and chips!

    Dtr 2B Build

Cardboard! Luxury! I built mine in a brown paper bag in a septic tank
  17. I'll try to do 150 miles on a tank. I've only managed it once that was Donnington weekend with no play driving. I'll carry 15 litres spare fuel.
  18. Why not I've done Alnwick castle (Hogwarts) Goathland station (Hogsmeade) and platform 9 3/4. Except this time no child in tow. Although as far as film references go I think this one is a better reason to detour there "I am Connor MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod. I was born in 1518 in the village of Glenfinnan on the shores of Loch Shiel. And I am immortal." Feel the stag. (I'll get me coat....)

    New Or Old Vin Number?

You cannot use the old sierra vin and will not be allocated the sierra registration number When an age related plate is assigned the sierra is effectively scrapped and its identity must not reappear. I made up my own vin following the rules on the gov web site covering registration. Ozz
