  2. Hello all, I have recently purchased a Tiger Cat E1 with a 2.0 Pinto engine, 205 block (November 1987) and the head is using carburettors. As the title says, I am trying to find identification marks near spark-plug 4 that would indicate if the head is an unleaded one. There is what looks like a vertical scratch on the block similar to the letter “I” but it does not look like factory marking. The previous owner bought the car themselves as is and they were not aware if the engine has been modified in any way by the original owner. Any ideas?
  3. After a gap of a few years without cars the organisers have now asked for our participation in this years fair. See www.https://midsummerfestival.co.uk/ for more details. Free entry and it's a good day out.

  11. Darrell, thanks for the info. Yes thats us showing an nice gentle run out.
  12. A sudden window of good weather has opened up on Monday 20th before it pours with rain for the rest of the week. Some of the East of England team are going out for a lunchtime picnic, but it's also time for all the other retirees, self employed, house husbands and out-of-work members to get the cars out. If anyone from 'out of state' wants to join us let me know. We will decide on the venue when we know who is coming. Al

    Track day

Hi Darrell, thanks for your thoughts. Phil's trying to get some idea of interest levels at the moment, so we can see if it's worth proceeding. There are lots of places that do track days so, if there was the interest, we could possibly look at different venues as well. To try and answer some of your comments (I would have to confirm the details with Phil but ...) I would expect that you would get to do multiple runs, each a run of 7 laps. Normally 7 laps flat out and you want a break (so does your car). After each run, I find that by the time you have calmed down, checked your oil & water (possibly your underwear too), and got ready to go again it's already time to form up for the next run. I appreciate what you say about the distance as it is about the same for me. I used to trailer the 2B so didn't need to worry about it surviving so much, but I don't have a trailer for the Cobra so I'd either have to hire one (expensive) or drive it there and back and be a bit more careful. The beauty of Blyton Park is that, as long as you don't go silly, you're unlikely to damage your car. Rain doesn't normally stop play, but I'm not a big fan of a wet track and I tend to wait for it to dry out a bit. Steve
  14. Ian, search on YouTube for "May charity farm car show" pay attention to the time stamp 22:55, you will see someone you recognise

    Track day

Hi Phil & Foz, I have mixed thoughts re a track day!!! I would have to drive there, take part and drive back hoping Rupert survived the time on track!?! I am looking at a 3 hour plus drive to get there, is there an inclement weather refund in place or is it non refundable. An insurance upgrade. All for 7 laps, unless I have misunderstood. I must admit it doesn't appeal BUT it would be so much fun!! Me thinks not for me at this time. I will watch the conversation as it develops. Darrell.
  16. All the bits you have photographed showing rust are bolt on parts and not part of the chassis, so the ultimate solution is to strip the parts (e.g. front hubs, wishbones) and have them shot blasted and then either powder coated by the same supplier or painted with some decent paint onto the bare metal. If you are going to paint yourself (after the rust is gone!) then a Zinc rich primer is a good starting point and you can get this in aerosol form, and then a 2K epoxy based intermediate undercoat to add some toughness to the coating. For the top coat I've had a good experience (so far at least!) with brush on Chassis Black paint and this is probably tougher than a normal automotive top coat and important for exposed bits like the chassis and suspension.

Seems that lots of people have looked at this but nobody has replied - let us know what you think please (good or bad) 'cause we ain't psychic Thanks, Steve
  18. In regards of paint, do you use spray cans and if so which one?
  19. I used this on my car, works a treat for me. Rustins Rust Converter 250ml Clear | Toolstation left area in slight grey colour but once I painted over it you cannot tell. bought the metal up nicely and killed the rust off. Just make sure do all prep before hand with wire brush/wheel on grinder. I guess for the floor might be able to floor pan/pre cut one from tiger not sure if they do them or not. If not as most things I found with my kit car is to make it yourself. using a cardboard template and get sheet of metal and cut it out your self and rivet back on. search forum no doubt there be few threads of people doing this.
  20. Hello all, I have bought my very fist kit car yesterday, was not a great experience to be honest as the car has some substantial rust and I am wondering if anyone knows how it can be treated? Also the floor needs to be repaired/replaced as it is damaged. What’s the best way of fixing these issues and if anyone has any experience, how much will it roughly cost? Thank you, Thanasis

    Magazine & AGM

By now all members who opted to have electronic magazine delivery should have received a "pdf" copy, and all others should have received a hard copy, of the Spring 2024 magazine. If anyone has not received a copy please let myself or Alan Richey know and we'll try to sort it out for you. We now have just over 2 weeks before the AGM is held at the National Kit Car Show at Malvern (Sat 1st June) and hopefully we'll see lots of you there. If you wish to have anything discussed, or would like to volunteer as Events Secretary, please follow the instructions in the magazine. Steve
