    Tps On Webers

Thanks for the info. If you could put a photo up it would help. It's something that I'm considering as a winter mod, the bike carbs I'm running at the moment give good economy and power but I've got a misfire at about 4200revs if I floor the accelerator. If I press it steadily and let the engine catch up then it misfires at about 5200. It reminds me of the old SU carbs when the dash pots are empty of oil. Marg says if I drove normally then it wouldn't happen!

How easy is it to fit a TPS to a pair of Weber dcoe carbs? Can you change the direction that the accelerator cables connect to the carbs?
  4. What engine is it? Sounds more like oil leaks than breathing. If it's a pinto engine the usual areas are: cam cover gasket, front and rear crank oil seals, sump gasket. You need to clean the engine thoroughly, go for a short drive and then look/touch to find where the oil's coming from. As regards the brakes, you need to check that the calipers are moving correctly and the rear drum auto adjust mechanisms are working. My brakes were rubbish when I bought mine but I rebuilt them with all new parts. Removed the servo and changed the master cylinder to suit and it's perfect now BUT it's not like the brakes on a production car
  5. Check what width wings you need. I had to change mine to wider ones to take my tyre width.

    Blue Or Gray Smoke

I'm intrigued with the valve reliefs on the piston tops. They look like they are designed for a 16 valve engine. What engine is it?

Mines a 3A and I think it's narrow. You'll find it's hard to sort out seats that will fit comfortably. Length would probably be ok.

Some of the pattern ones are black no matter what the size!
  10. Starter should be ok. If it's wired like mine the alternator charge cable goes to the starter solenoid terminal and only uses that as a connection to the battery and to my fuse/relay box

    Flat Roofs

I used to get our factory northlight roofs done in 2 layer torch on felt and got 20 year life out of them. I had our garage/utility flat roof done the same when we moved in 20 years ago and it's still ok but looking to replace it over the next year. The roofer I use offers fibreglass and rubber as well as felt but for his own roofs he always uses the 2 layer felt system as it's more cost effective

    Dual Purpose Gauge.

I have had instances as an ex instrument engineer of having gauges go out of calibration when they are subject to inputs greater than their scale maximum but it does depend on their construction

    Dual Purpose Gauge.

Oil temperature gauges usually have a higher maximum reading than water ones (150 instead of 120). If your oil runs hotter than 120 then you could damage your water gauge

    Pinto Problem

Bob, I used the correct ford injection head inlet gasket with a bike carb manifold and never had a problem with leaks Rob
  16. Gbs sent me the wrong one for my car so check with them first. If you can get down to them take a template of the shape you need to achieve. I ended up with a wide bodied zero type to fit my 3A.
  17. Decided to sell my MR2! It is a really nice low mileage example having covered only 27,900 miles from new. First registered in May 2001. In my opinion it is in excellent condition inside and out. Wheels and tyres are very good with only one wheel having a mark. Headlight glasses have the usual discolouration at the top. New hood fitted in October 2016 and has a twin outlet Powerflo exhaust system. Sounds great! Mot expires 14 October 2017. No advisories when previously tested in 2016. 7 services in Service Book at: 4340, 8387, 9899, 17246, 25137 and 27531 miles £1800 Please contact me for more information Car is located in Aldridge, Walsall, West Midlands

    Etb Gauges

I've had no problem with telemetrix speedo and sensor picking up from bolt heads but I made sure the sensor bracket didn't move and was bolted to the diff so any diff movement moved the sensor as well. I also made sure that the sides of the bolt heads were all aligned with the sensor to keep the air gap constant.

  20. As Tractor says, have a look in your area for a repairer, I had my starter reconditioned at a local place at a good price Must read your last post more carefully! If you search for dc motor repairers you may find one.g
  21. Sorted! Thanks for helping out Bob.
  22. Just looked at their policy documents and they don't list open top cars as eligible vehicles? The vehicle / your vehicle – a saloon car, hatchback, estate car, car derived van or motorcycle over 150 cc's. Motorised caravans can be covered provided they are under 2.5 tons gross vehicle weight and with an engine capacity of no more than 2500 cc, which is being driven by either you, or your legal spouse or civil partner.
  23. Sides locate exactly like the original bonnet and are held in place with the same catches. Don't know if this photo helps
