    Seats

Hi, I run an Exmo and find that the majority of seats are too well padded to give a good seating height, what I have resorted to is to remove the seat padding and I have cut it to about 1inch thick, this gives me a seating level of 11/2 inches from the floor. I am going to try some grp shell seats to see how low these are in the future.

    Stolen?

I use a wheel clamp and immobiliser when parked on drive. I think anything that slows them down is a deterant, but if they want it then it is all too easy to take.
  3. If the car is on the drive it makes it so much easier to just use it whenever the sun shines to pop down to the shops using the scenic route, my car stands out all year round and has done for three and a half years just covered over when the weather is really bad and in use all year round and do'sent seem to have come to any harm. Keep it you know you really want to.
  4. I am going just on the Sunday, hope you make it.
  5. I will be there with the North East Kit and Classic Car Club.
  6. Couldn't agree more, well done A-Plan.
  7. I would suspect it is the first sign of camshaft wear, if you change the suspect followers it may give temporary relief but it would soon return, But at least you would identify the problem. Then it is time for a new cam and followers, ideal time to put a 2ltr. cam in.(thats what I have and it makes a big difference)
  8. That is a really nice looking car, you can tell from those few pictures you are doing a quality build.Keep up the good work and good luck at IVA time.
  9. Does your MX5 leak in that much, or have you not worked out where the electric window switch is ???? Allan ,Norman And I braved the conditions and had a really good night.
  10. Yes I will be coming down if I can find a road open through all the roadworks.

    Very Sad 2.1 Pinto

If I were in your situation then I wouldn't let anyone panic me into spending lots of cash. I would drain the oil out from cold overnight and replace the filter (filled with 20-50) and refill the oil, crank it over with the plugs out until you have pressure, refit plugs and start the car. I would let it idle till it starts to warm before I tried any revs. If the knock is still there switch off and get the engine rebuilt, if it isnt switch off re-drain the oil and fit a new filter again and think yourself very lucky.

    All Change

One of my friends runs one, what an exhaust note-lovely car.
  16. Saw this on ebay thought it may interest someone http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gbs-zero-kit-car-/272221117893
  17. The major change seems to be the spray bar so it may be the problem, I have known a new one to be blocked, so it could be starving oil to one end of the cam. if you still have the old one try putting it back on to eliminate it from the investigation.

    Carb Rebuild

I run a 1600 pinto with a 32/36 and it will pull 95 on a private road and will do 80+ in third. I think I would be looking at vacuum leaks or drawing air somewhere.
  19. That was a temporary repair, but once the tape went on it became a permanent fix. Does that sound familiar to anyone?
  20. Cheers, it's been the other way probably since the car was built as the pipework and bracket match the original, work. I have just renewed the filter every year. I think I am just looking for jobs.
  21. Should the filter be fitted before or after the mechanical fuel pump, mine is before, the car runs fine but the filter is always half full and I get drainback from the carb when the car hasn't been started for a while.

    Brake Servo

+1 get rid of it, best mod I have done.
  23. Looking good, I do like the colour. Better get it taxed I have ordered up some warmer weather as i am sick of cold wet and windy, I need some warmth.
  24. If he was selling them for £23,000 in 1988, thats the equivalent of £46,000 in todays money, not bad for a kit that is factory assembled.
  25. Yes i have done a bit of research and it is in fact Matt's car. I don't think it was ever on the road and the last info I can find is that the car was up for sale unfinished.I am quite tempted to have a go in the future as I think it would be a good technical challenge. I agree with Steamer that any gains will be small but I would really like to have a go.
