  1. Hi and welcome to the club! I agree, I doubt the over-heating issue is the rad (unless it's leaking or got lots of broken fins) and even if it is, you may not be able to fit bigger-core rad in. However, thats about all the help I can give you - I don't have a Pinto and over-heating is one of the few issues (touch wood) I've never had. Make sure you do a search in the forum because I know both of your issues have come up before and there have been lots of suggested solutions which could help you. Good luck!
  2. Yes, definitely sounds like something related to your recent changes. The ECU needs a minimum voltage to work (11V or something like that?) - maybe your system is now sometimes providing less and the ECU is literally shutting down then switching on continually? In the Emerald software, there is a datalogger function - connect a PC up, start the software and drive the car, monitoring the various options - look for obvious spikes or see if you just keep losing the connection as the ECU turns off? I had a misfire issue and it was the wiring to my TPS but I worked it out from the datalogger - details in my blog post about it here.

Yeah, the XP did worry me But if it contains PDFs or .doc files AND you have a DVD drive (), might work...

Not that it helps much but at least you know what it's supposed to look like...

    Matty builds a kit

Its got a very small engine bay, virtually nothing at the back and that looks like the bodywork from a Radical - maybe some homemade thing designed for a bike engine? Did the seller not give you any clue? You originally said you thought 'the company had closed' - which company?

That is brave The only chassis I know with round tubes is the Robin Hood 2B (2B=tubey), so by fluke, you've come to the right place - lots of 2B experts on here. Lots of parts still available from https://kitspares.co.uk/ Good luck!!
  10. Looks great ... Nice base layer for some race stickers?
  11. Flocking looks good initially but I don't think it lasts well - I've seen some pretty horrible old stuff and it's a pain to get off. That diamond patterned stuff is nice
  12. Unless you've done some fabric work like that before and have all the equipment, I'd recommend buying it - SoftBits are very good (although slow) and the quality is amazing. I bought that marine vinyl for my doors and it wasn't cheap, so you're unlikely to save yourself too much... EDIT: ok, it seems to be much cheaper than I remember, although I cannot actually find the same stuff I bought...however, I'd still get it made for you. Unlike changing brake discs, for example, a roof does require some skill and it can look VERY bad if you don't have that skill.
  13. Wow, that's a great example of the model - great colour and the wheels look awesome. Personally, I'd get some carpet on that tunnel and something on the dash but that's just for looks
  14. 4-seater?! Got any more pics?

    IVA Completed

    Interesting- any pics?
  16. That old chestnut...if no MC, are there brake lines? Is there wiring for the dashboard? Took me months to do the dashboard and wiring for it (although I was pretty slow) Pics are needed - good luck!
  17. Absolutely - IVA is the test that is also used for when, say, Ford want to introduce a new model. It is a much more thorough, demanding test than an MOT which is just a check for basic safety, really. My fog light also stays on if you turn the other lights off and on again - been through 3 MOTs with no problems.
  18. Not having any documentation is probably easier - tell them its rough age, you'll get a Q plate, smoke test for emissions at MOT, nice and easy. I sometimes wish I had kept the Q plate they first gave me for my car but, no, I had to insist on a new plate and now every MOT is a struggle to get through emissions.
  19. Armrests, like Caterham/Westfield use. Not only hold the door in but also nice for your arms. See my blog below for details: https://zerolifebuild.blogspot.com/2023/03/arms-outstretched.html

    Exhaust requirements

Do you have the GBS exhaust where the cat and exhaust are in the one piece? If so, that is fine for IVA. If not, read the manual - I don't recall there being any requirement for a heat shield but could be wrong. Also, if it is a very exposed exhaust end and it does get very hot (if you've wrapped it all the way along, that will happen), you'd probably want a heat shield for your own safety. People will tell you that you need to allow for the sharp edge on the sprung hook (if you have the GBS setup) that holds the exhaust end on the bracket but I didn't do anything and I had no problem (although I may have just been lucky?).
  23. I've seen Rich's V8 and there isn't enough space left for his pack of Rizlas in the engine bay . i have no experience but I'd imagine a US 'small block' is not...
