    Iva First Test Pass

Hi, Stuart Sorry but looks like the DVLA want to lower your 100% figure down, and the last thing I wanted was to have to have any delays in the registration with back and forward paperwork. It's now in the post on special delivery for tomorrow, so fingers crossed should soon have Reg No. and V5C within a few weeks. Regards Martin

    Iva First Test Pass

The tester said that I needed one as the IVA is only a compliance of conformity test not a roadworthy test. So I phoned DVLA after going round in circles to find the number to ring and they said that I need to send one with the paperwork. Looks like no 3 years grace for me as far as I can tell. Trying to get the MOT system at the garage for a car that has not got a Reg number is quite a task with just a Vin number the computer keeps asking for the reg number, but they managed to get there in the end just to log it on for the test. Regards Martin

    Water Header Tank

Can you put up a picture so that we can see the connections? Mine has three connections, One at the neck where the cap overflow is. One on the front about 1" from the top 8mm pipe. From stat housing. One at the front near the bottom of the tank 16mm pipe. From inlet manifold tee piece to water pump The last one being the return from the heater if you have one. Hope that makes it clear for you. Regards Martin

    Iva First Test Pass

Hi all, Well today I am the owner of a (First time pass certificate) for my 2B after purchasing the part built car (Lot 2) from Tricky Dicky back in 2005 and him saying that it just needed a few bits done and that it was a good build by the previous owner. How wrong he was to even think that !!! (I think cowboys comes to mind) Well after 12 years of I can only say slow work by me when I had the urge to do a little more to it then have to save up a little more for the next bits to purchase. And the help of my son it is now a pass, That almost was a fail for the repeater lights not being visible over the rear wings, but thanks to Roy the tester at Derby he said that if we can re position the lights and return before 4:00 then we can have a pass and save £90 for a re test. We had a little issue with the Exhaust Emissions being to high but with the aid of the laptop and my son being able to adjust the fueling to get a lower reading all was good. The sound level came in at 98 db so that was a pass The brakes were close to the limit of in balance but scrapped through just. So over all I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all on here for the information that I have gained while building the car. It can be done so never give up and take your time doing a good job but try not to take 12 years ! Regards Martin (maca)

    Trailing Arm

Hi Jez, Depending how the tap has broken you should be able to break it up and remove with a hammer and chisel or punch, It may take a bit of time but worth the effort then carefully drill and re-tap if possible or drill out and maybe put a nut on the back. Regards Martin.

    Fuel Tank - Iva Test

I think that you are getting confused with the (L.P.G.pressure testing certificates) this is not required for a (Petrol tank)
  11. Just put a small weld where you want to cut it, not forgetting to add the small amout that sticks out the last wheel box tube then get the angle grinder with a cutting disc and cut off the unwanted cable, clean up the end and try in the tube that it slides ok. That's how I did mine. Martin

    Brake Servo. Iva?

Before you start drilling manifolds! Why not consider another option of fitting an alternator from a Ford Transit or Vauxhall Corsa that has a vacuum pump on the rear of the unit. Take a vacuum pipe from that to the servo, job done. Martin
  13. If you take the carpet out then you can use a good steam cleaner to get the oil out and let it dry.
  14. I was lead to believe that the sun shone from there! but now I see that you have a lovely shine.

    Engine Numbers For Iva

Use the number stamped on the right hand side of the block, the other numbers are just casting pattern numbers. The first two letters give the year of manufacture. Martin

    2.0 Pinto Water Pump

Buy the non-viscous type with no thread at the nose end and you will be ok, That's what I fitted on mine. Also made a new pulley. Martin
  17. Hi, If it is any help try the Westfield colour change that may give you a good idea. http://westfield-world.com/flash_changer.html maca
  18. I would suggest that you go to a local bolt supplier and ask what bolt lengths they have and pick your bolt length with the plan shank you require even if it means cutting some of the thread off for the final length.

    Grease Gun

As mower man say's, if you hold the nozzel in a vice if it is tight to pull out by hand and fill as you pull out the plunger. Or you can put the body into a grease cartridge and suck the grease into the body as you pull out the plunger. Hope this helps. maca
  20. Hope this will help you for bearing i/d I have scanned the packet the bearings were supplied by my ford parts department. Regards Martin
  21. The I/D is 1.9" on the sliding pillar suspension on a 2B as supplied in the first place by RHE. I have modified mine to take 6" long springs with adjusters to get a better setup. Regards Martin
  22. Done I used to be in that area in my younger days. maca
  23. Sorry to hear of your accident, hope the nose soon feels better. Looks like you will have to get a full face screen or a mask to cover that area or just take smaller cuts. These things just catch us out at times without any warning.
  24. If this works try this link http://www.nw.rhocar.org/tonypics.htm Regards Martin
