  1. Sorry for the delay in replying, our laptop died and we are just getting to grips with the new one!! Anyway, the dimensions (sorry haven't got a pic) are: Max inside width on top (fits over the lugs welded to the chassis) 670mm Height from base to top of nose 430mm Width at front of nose 480mm Hope this helps Al
  2. If it's not urgent, I can measure my nosecone on Friday afternoon
  3. 'That was one hell of a joke' Or 'Told you I needed the loo'
  4. John, Not a total disaster, we just need some grey matter time to work out the seat belt problem. Sort out a date and we'll get to yours to drink your tea and get all the fail points ticked off so that you can get your lovely car where it deserves - on the road. Many hands and all that. At least the self centering problem is sorted! I am free most week ends - let me know what suits. Cheers Al

    Wow

Tractor, I've got one of those exhaust cans (the large one from GBS) fitted. It does make a journey more comfortable, but when you want to use the load pedal, it does bark a bit. Especially going through tunnels when dropping a gear or 2 as well

    Air Box

How about a remote air filter fitted in front of the radiator in the nosecone with the air ducted via flexible trunking to the carb? Would obviously need a bespoke air box on top of the carb to connect to the ducting. Avoids cutting a hole in your bonnet. Just another option
  7. And yet the Government last year ring fenced an additional £12 BILLION in overseas aid!!! How many Police/Fire/Doctors/Nurses/Ambulance personnel would that pay for - it does make you think where the priorities lie in these times of 'Austerity'??? Rant over. Thoughts with the families - they must be totally distraught
  8. Just watch out for the killer dog!!
  9. I'll bear that in mind Ken and adjust/bodge/modify to suit. Thanks for the pointers

    Fuel

John, +1 for what Bob says above. A full tank removes any 'questions' by the examiner. Good luck for Friday
  11. Hope you have a good day Dan All the best Al & Lana
  12. Happy Birthday Emma, at least the zimmer from Terry will be shiney! All the best Al & Lana
  13. That's a good idea Ken, hadn't even thought of that - thanks. The pump is fixed to my boot, so could be a suspect. I've some anti vibration mat in the garage so will use some of this when I get some garage time. Cheers Al
  14. I have the same pumpas you David mounted in the rear nearside wheel arch. It's always been noisy, so I figure it's one of those 'quirks'. But it getting to be pain in the ar3e now and I have a new one to replace it - can' t be bothered at the moment though
  15. Would you really want to take the risk??? The potential for leaking fuel outweighs the £50 in my book. What if you parked your car at just the wrong (or right) angle?
  16. Happy Birthday Phil, hope you have a good one mate. See you all soon Al & Lana
  17. John, Glad to hear you have sorted the crabbing out with Ken's help. As I said last saturday, I will always bow to knowledge & experience. If you need a hand fitting the new wishbones (or for any other help), I can make Sunday this week end. Let me know either way - we need to get your lovely car on the road. Cheers Al
  18. If you are running the Rover 2litre engine in your SuperSpec, you can directly fit the Rover 220 alloy sump (don't forget the oil pick-up). The 220 sump & pick-up are a direct fit and will give you about 2" additional clearance. It's another option if you can get a 220 sump & pickup of course!
  19. Many congratulations to you both Rob - we must catch up sometime
  20. I've the same VIN plate as well which passed IVA. Think the failure point may be because there isn't enough characters in the main line and also how the remaining details are presented. I don't think it's the plate itself - maybe a description of the cause of failuer could be better worded. But nice to finally have some have clear examples to complement the IVA manual
  21. I had an adapter 'boss' turned from an ally billet at wrok to suit a momo wheel . Left it as it was finished, looked good, but to avoid oxidisation of the ally, I gave the turned boss a thorough de-grease and then a couple of coats of clear laquer al over. Still looks as new 12 months down the line.
  22. John, as Ken says you aren't alone. If you put the paper/card down and identify the leak (which it definitely sounds like), then there's plenty of time to sort. If not, then we can go over your fuel piping on the 27th. I've got some 8mm id hose that i'll bring with me along with the red/yellow flexi fuel pipe originally supplied by RH. We'll check from the filler cap to the carbs, but if I remember you have the original filler cap. A simple check, it might be worth checking that you have a seal around the filler cap. Al

    It's Arrived !

Nice looking car Ian, BUT...... following from Femster's post, do you cater for us slapheads as well? :D Ok, ok, i'll get me coat
  24. As Alex suggests, it would be best to check the PCD of your steering wheel first. You may be lucky, I think Rally Design might do an adapter plate. Check their website. Other than that, you'll probably need a new boss, but ensure you get one to suit your steering column.
