#388929 Guidance On Changing Steering Rack - 2B

I'm pretty sure but not 100% that the rack on my 2B plus is an escort rack but fitted with longer arms to reach the standard Sierra track food ends.

#386274 Grease Your Props

Posted by Jez Morton on 24 June 2018 - 11:32 AM

Had my my prop fail on Wednesday, when I was accellerating I got a vibration at the rear. Dug into it a found the rear uj was knackered one of the needle roller bearings had shed most of its needles and was dry.

Ive rebuilt it with new ujs and everything looks good, but have few questions.

How often are people greasing their props mine was just over 10years and 15k miles in use and I'm sure i greased it 3 or 4 times.

How long would you expect the ujs to last?

As a side note the circlip pliers with interchangable heads are next to useless and about as strong as toffee.

If you still have the alligator opening bonnet, my solution might work. I had to mount the motor to the bonnet so i made 2 brackets/plates that attach to bolts in the centre join and are then attached with the wiper spindles and conveniently placed washer jets to hold the other end. The brackets hang down under to bonnet like a top hat shape and give a flat mounting to fix the motor to.

#382217 Clutch Cable Crimp Supplies?

Posted by Jez Morton on 20 March 2018 - 06:08 PM

When shortened mine I cut a smooth section out of a bolt drilled through it and counter sunk one end, I slid this on and welded the counter sunk end to fix. The thinking behind counter sinking was it would need less heat to weld and stop the cable getting brittle, 10 years on still good.
