  1. I'm a fan of the duratec, though i don't think i'll get around to fitting one. A few minor points: It's a ford/mazda engine introduced in 2001 (zetec was '94ish?). Stock 2.0 engine produce 150ish bhp, but can release up to 200 with fuelling/exhaust. The ST170 is a zetec with a fancy head, and like you say, wont release any more power (without aftermarket non-vvt cams)

    Next Prob

it could be crap between the disc and hub, make sure it's perfectly clean, not even paint!
  3. I find if i am doing a lot of pootling and using engine braking rather than the pedal, that the mintex 1144 tend to glaze over a bit. Takes a fair bit of heavy stopping to return them to normal. I've stopped coasting down to roundabouts and use the brakes only, to use them a bit more.
  4. not without a photo or other identifying marks

    Hello Everyone

Not many people on here will know what a robin hood traditional is, I certainly don't remember having seen one. Get some pictures up for our (my) curiosity
  8. https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/s/fuel-system/tank-breather-valve This sort of thing?
  9. You can actually use the rear cosworth 4x4 calipers with a vented 253mm disc (same setup as some late model scorpios). Disc was also used on back of the cougar (but different caliper). The rwd and 4wd cosworths had a different hub, which spaced the caliper out, allowing for a 273mm solid (2wd) or vented (4wd) disc.

    Type 9

Quoted because taking your engine and box out again for a flippin oil seal is a waste of a weekend. Didn't manage to remove mine with just a screwdriver, I used a centre punch to deform the metal frame inwards first, before flicking it out.
  11. I've only mobile internet access at the moment (and a terrible phone) so was leaving it until today to create the thread. For those that may not know: The south yorksish meet for June will be at: Red Lion Inn, Todwick, South Yorkshire Usual time of 7:30 on weds the 3rd. Andy

  14. Hey, i thought you were Yoda?
  15. failed gearbox bearing?
  16. personally i'd keep it simple. Fix what you know to be wrong and then reassess. Perhaps check your wheel bearings as it's not unknown for people to have problems with incorrect or over tightness there.

    Pinto Idle Valve

I once stopped at a pedestrian crossing, and at the moment the young girl began crossing my engine revved aggressively, due to dodgy iacv. She jumped about a foot vertically and ran back to the nearside pavement! I must have looked like an utter dick
  18. looks like the consensus is for next week.

  22. tensioner should be fine if fairly new, cam belt is only a tenner which is very cheap insurance if it's interference Pin type vernier pulleys give 0.5° increments in cam timing (360 degrees split into 40 different belt rib positions and 18 adjustment positions)
  23. i've seen both types of springs on the smaller calipers
  24. more engine changes than my car has had washes!
