  1. Could it be a Locost running RH details? not that anyone would do such a thing rather than getting it IVA'd
  2. Can I make a suggestion, @Richard Grove please feel free to ignore, I would not place my air intake behind the radiator, I'd be trying to get it into clean cold air
  3. Sliding pillar? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Robin-Hood-kitcar-track-car/283779442210?hash=item421292a622:g:qG8AAOSwa~NeN~V4 Any biggies jump out why it couldn't be IVA'd?
  4. Guys we've been doing a Wales trip every year for the last 10 years, done various incarnations of it, last few have been centred around the Elan Valley, you can get there & back to most places in Wales in a day from there. Just a note on the Elan Hotel, not saying don't stay there but, we stayed on the campsite across the road a few years ago, the issue is that there's nothing else there. It's too far to walk anywhere else & unless you don't intend to drink then you are stuck in the hotel with no atmosphere, the food isn't bad though. We now stay at Wyeside camping & caravan park, you can walk into Rhayader there are several pubs for food in an evening & a couple of places in a morning for breakfast if camping. The Red Kite feeding just South of Rhayader is a must, 3pm each day (I think)

  6. Friend of mine has a car condom keeps his BMW Z4 in it (gods knows why but each to their own), he reckons they are brilliant, he got it direct from the manufacturer & did a product review for them, it included a piece of untreated metal that he placed inside the bubble compared to one he left outside. The piece outside rusted badly, the one inside was still shiney. The only comment is how often you intend to take the car in/out of it as it's a bit of a faff, if not very often it's not too bad, you have to drive the car onto the base, then cover it over & zip the cover to the base, it takes a bit of time & all done whilst on your knees. Just found this, I take no responsibility for the idiot I haven't watched it all at 14 minutes he should be ashamed!

Just as an aside, take out the bulbs & make sure they work & are not blown, once spent an hour tracing a fault on a friends car because I'm sure he had told me he'd checked the bulbs but he claimed he never said that!!
  8. I presume you removed the lever to remove the box to get to the clutch, also that it was okay before you stripped it down, if so make sure you've put it all back together correctly, once did a main input shaft bearing on a MK3 Cortina, 2 days later I went from 2nd to 3rd & the lever came off in my hand. It was pitch black up a country lane & after waddling the lever around in the hole the only gear I could get was reverse, so I reversed the car 3 miles back to my then girlfriends house. Make sure the lever is not fouling anything even something simple like the gaiter can stop it being fully engaged.
  9. Like to see somebody challenge this in court, noisy exhausts are a nuisance but it needs to be specifically legislated Is too wishy washy for me
  10. Was the food that bad, is it wise to go again?
  11. Your mate has some skills which I fear we are losing in this country with the removal of manual skills for our children in schools
  12. Far better time of the year, at least there is a chance of some warmth
  13. They must have been listening to me, I don't do Fecesbook, but somebody has said it's been moved to last weekend in July but can't confirm that.
  14. Shame it's so late in the year, weather could be dodgy, June was a perfect time for it., why is it on a different site?
  15. The pictures are not really for the IVA examiner they are not really interested in that side of it, the pictures are to prove to the DSA that you are not a professional car builder & that you have built the car yourself. If you have already bought a part built, start with a few pictures of that & then any that shows you have dismantled it & rebuilt it. They don't have to be comprehensive, it also seems to help if it can be seen that it's being built in a standard garage, or on the driveway etc. As to the donor, shame you didn't get the V5C from it, do you know anything about it as you maybe able to still obtain the V5C.

    Last Stonleigh

Apart from a club get together what is the point of the show? To me this is the whole point, very rarely buy anything, not looking for a new kit & nothing in the show would get me to change my mind. Kits were a reasonably priced option, but now basic kits are £5-7K, I don't spend that on my daily car. The industry is on it's knees & getting worse, the business model seems to be sell less & make it more expensive to keep the margin, rather than stack it high & sell it cheap. The lack of suitable donor's & additional legislation isn't helping along with the young having no clue as to how to get their hands dirty.

    Temporary license

I drove mine up the cul-de-sac just as the Police entered the same cul-de-sac & pulled up, it had no lights, no bonnet etc. I was just testing the brakes, never went above 15 mph. I saw them & thought "Ah Well", so turned around & pulled onto my drive in front of them. After they had gone over to the house to make their enquiries they came over to mine, we had a discussion as to whether it constituted a motor vehicle & whether they could get a conviction. It was all fairly light hearted & nothing was done, but they did leave with the comment "Don't let us catch you again", my response was "I certainly won't" & they never did, but I never went any further than our cul-de-sac well not much further.
  18. I've SVA'd (not IVA'd) 4 buggies & the angle of the steering was never mentioned, the biggest issue we had was self centring, so I'm not sure what issue you are perceiving.
  19. Which side of the circuit is failing?
  20. Never had a relay 'blow', when you say blew what exactly do you mean?

    Tyres

This is how subjective tyres are, T1-R are my go to tyres, I fit them to track cars & have them on the buggy, to me they are a very good all round tyre. I have Nankang on the Rav4 in 30K never had an issue with them
  22. I would love it, but it's an 12 hour round trip & I currently have storage problems, how desperate are they to get rid as I'm just about to go on holiday?

    Engine Dilema

Because it is one of the best underrated engines available
  24. Did you get to look at the car the other day, what's the story for it moving a few hundred miles & still not registered?
  25. If it's on an A-Frame & not a Dolly then the angle is exactly the same as if the vehicle was driving under it's own power, I have used both & towed cars multiple thousands of miles without any issues, both RWD cars & mid transverse engined cars. Also the AA & RAC use the dolly type to move disabled cars to a convenient point before putting on a flatback.
