  1. And BGH themselves. The gearcalc link has all the BGH gear ratios http://www.bghgeartech.co.uk/html/links.html
  2. Many thanks Bob. For obvious reasons the family celebration has been postponed by a week In the meantime, 2 big ribeyes have been taken from the freezer, more ice cubes have been put into the freezer, and 2 bottles of Asda lemon flavour tonic water are sitting in the fridge.
  3. Since my namesake's idea of a monthly raffle got such a good response, I would like to carry it on. For reasons best known to the Gods, (I have no idea) I have 2 sets of the following, and I would like to offer one as this months prize. I bought the second set to replace the battery in a TOMTOM satnav. When I decided where could I store them so I could find them again, I found a set already there. I have no recollection of buying them, or what I could have used them for... The draw will take place on 1st April.......post up your membership numbers.... https://www.toolstation.com/shop/Hand+Tools/d10/Screwdrivers+%26+Sets/sd80/Draper+Precision+Torx+Screwdriver+Set/p17579
  4. The Ace cafe brings back happy memories of a totally mis-spent youth....
  5. Hi Bob, Ive been planning a weekend down that way for a while combining the Fleet air arm museum & Haynes over 2 days. So I may well meet up with you at Haynes on the Sunday morning. Obviously weather dependent, & with air con, heated leather seats, & a Bose sound system......so, not the Hood, but the MX5.
  6. I'm with Mark.....exactly where did the shocker snap? Do you have a pic to help?
  7. When I get those "accident" cold calls I explain that I own 4 cars and have had accidents in 2 of them recently. When I ask which car they are calling about it all goes err....um.. then dialling tone.
  8. 3 for me....ive always liked hot rods & sleepers. Id keep the chassis & suspension pretty stock, Stick to normal-ish wheels, but keep the engine covered, so you dont give anything away & keep the handling & performance a secret.
  9. Many decades ago a mate bought a Zephyr 6.....but it was misfiring a bit. The engine was covered in crud, we washed it off and found a wooden bung instead of 1 spark plug. Hence the misfire (we thought).....so we put in a spark plug, connected the HT lead & started it up. Exactly the same, still misfiring. So off he went..... about a mile down the road the engine exploded & the sump blew off. Turns out there was no piston or conrod in that bore either. The spark plug had ignited the petrol & oil vapour once it warmed up in the crankcase.
  10. Was it gloss lacquer? Also PM sent Neil....
  11. I'd ask for cash on collection, if it's spares/repair it wont be too much? Have there been instances where the buyer claims he didnt receive the goods? Or claim back from paypal saying goods are no good? If youre not sure, just stand your ground for cash
  12. I'm in...escept for 16th June (family birthday) Also there is a trial 1/8 drag meeting at Rockingham circuit on 7th May. I know this conflicts with Stoneleigh, but it will be run as a copy of the Street Outlaws formula. There will be some serious doorslammer cars there running on a No-Prep part of the circuit......I understand it will be on the pit road. There will also be Caterhams running on the inside track & drift racing on another part, so something for everyone. I will post more details as they are firmed up. See 10th February http://www.eurodragster.com/news/news.asp?Story=february10#february10
  13. If you already have the VDO gauge I'd stick with it. You definitely need to know when its empty, but its full when the fuel gushes out of the filler. My guess (I know very little about electrics) is that it will show just off full when the tank is full.
  14. Making one isnt difficult using your best Blue Peter skills and several cornflake packet to make templates. I did the same as Tazz, but I took it from the top of the seat belt bar to get more storage room. I used thickish aluminium sheet shaped to reach the rear chassis tube, with a fold in front of the seat belt bar down to the rear passenger panel. I used WBP ply for a lid, and covered everything in the same vinyl as I used for the (first) dash.
  15. What about a scoop under the car to direct cold air up past the current filter? No need to seal it, just a blast of cold air past it. Obviously beware stones & water.
  16. 4.10 & 4.11 are contradictory if I read them right? Laxer rules for IVA than for MOT?
  17. 17 characters, mixed letters & numbers. The factory weights for a 2B with a Pinto & type 9 were 450kg front & 650kg rear. these are max design weights. At the SVA the actual weight will be approx 750kg. HTH
  18. So once again, they charge everyone the same fee....just weasel words to make it "legal"
  19. Always check the cheap and or simple things first.
  20. The trial colour site has helped me. I have had a red/silver hood now for 15 year and fancy a change. I have to spray the rear wings anyway due to a Lydden Hill gravel trap experience, so I think I will try another colour while I am at it.
  21. Wrong glasses Bob???? The photo is fuzzy for me too.....I tried all 4 pairs of glasses too
  22. Marine ply would be a good choice....its wet & weather proof.
  23. I had TOYO T1R fitted to the MX5, In the dry they were ok (but no more than ok) but awful in the wet. But they were in an uncommon size. I ditched them after 1000 miles. On the Hood, ive always had michelins, at first pilot sport which were superb, but when they wore out I fitted Michelin energy saver as they were 1/2 the price of pilot sports. They have tremendous grip in the wet and dry. I also have 888s on spare rims for hot summers & track days.....just dont go out in the rain in them.
