  1. That would work, you're just adding mass to create a damping effect.
  2. MT75 then, not type 9. Maybe a heavy rubber suspension bush on the bottom of the lever? What diameter is the bottom part?
  3. What about the nylon saddle that engages with the bottom of the lever. https://www.bearingkits.co.uk/TYPE-9-GEARBOX-GEARSTICK-PLASTIC-SADDLE-OE/144.htm
  4. Please put a price as per rule 3.

    Keeps Stoping

Yes, truly the Lazarus of threads.
  6. If it's essentially a stretched Beetle then the main focus of the IVA will be the extension and reinforcement of the floorpan. It needs to be fully seam welded anywhere it's been cut and jointed and some additional reinforcements to stop it bending in the middle. If it's only got 4 seats and will only carry 4 people, then 4 seatbelt mountings shouldn't be difficult. If it's going to carry more than 4 people it'll get difficult. You'll need to demonstrate the extra seats and belts are mounted to an acceptable standard and also that the tyres, brakes and suspension are up to the additional weight. This will be difficult on an older build but not impossible. It doesn't matter how clued up you are on IVA, you just need to convince the examiner on the day. It might be more cost effective to submit for IVA, address the fail points and then fix and retest. Pre-empting what the examiner might fail and paying someone to do work beforehand and finding it wasn't needed is pointless.
  7. Can you put a ballpark price please, as rule 3. Thanks.
  8. To be honest, they should already be familiar with what's needed for IVA. Getting someone else to compile a list of work is just adding to an already expensive job. Modified beetle floorplans aren't very IVA friendly and you're likely to end up with a Q plate.
  9. I'd give these guys a call: https://www.kingfisherkustoms.co.uk/ They'll be familiar with shortened beetle floorplans for IVA so a lengthened one should be quite similar.
  10. Thread moved to non-committee area so everyone can see it.
  11. That's your electronic ignition module. More info available here: https://nw.rhocar.org/Ford ignition systems.htm
  12. Next Wednesday (25th) , 7PM onwards, Malt Shovel Pub, Coventry Road, Nr Stonebridge, Coventry, CV7 7HL Entrance to the pub car park is off the A452 Chester Road heading North 50 yards from the island. See you there.
  13. Al, You started this post in the committee event discussion area. I've moved it to the general event area so everyone can see what they missed.
  14. And extend your steering column so the hazard switch and the stalks aren't under the bonnet. Otherwise you'll need very long arms or very short legs to drive it comfortably.
  15. Make the dash the full width of the car.
  16. Make your dash 25mm taller so it sits under the back edge of the bonnet.

    Iva Documents

Probably not a statement to make on a public forum. Check down the back of the sofa in case you just misplaced it.
  18. Have a look here and compare the images with yours. Obvious differences are the shape of the mounting hole in the backplate. https://brakeparts.co.uk/shop/Ford/Sierra/82-86/Sierra 1.3 & 1.6 OHC Models/Rear - Brake Calipers and Wheel Cylinders

  20. If you know the person's forum username (which is what I put in the welcome post) and want to sent a message, click the 3 bar icon at top right of the screen. Click the envelope, click compose new, enter the user name. As you type, or if the name is valid, you'll see a list of users appear and you can click the one you want. Add a subject, type you message and send it. The forum software will send the message to their inbox and send them an email notification that they have been contacted. No personal data is shared so it's compliant. If they don't want to be contacted, they can just ignore the message.
  21. Can you just send him a message directly, now I'm off the Committee (as of yesterday's AGM), I'm trying to take a bit of a step backwards.
  22. Hi Simon, good to have you back on board and hear you're getting better. I've literally just put your membership pack in it's envelope. It'll be one of the last few I do as I stepped down from the membership role at the AGM yesterday but I'm having you back and reading you post have made doing it a little bit special.
  23. This is always a good event, hopefully we'll be able to make it. Would also be good if some members east of Huntingdon could make the journey west.
