  1. Past hour
  2. Another great show, fantastic drive, great weather, an AGM that has provoked some conversations! Roll on a great summer, have fun
  3. Fantastic drive down to the Malvern show, great weather and not too much traffic, another great show this year, I have added a picture of the 3 cars before we left the Cat & Lion.
  4. And welcome back into the Club, received your application just now.
  5. Great to see, welcome to all the new members, may I mirror Al’s suggestion and commend that you get involved, use the forums to glean info and/ or pass on your knowledge and experiences and most of all have fun
  6. when was the oil changed last? could be a little thin if it hasnt been changed in a while
  7. Today
  8. I only managed to get to the show this afternoon but very nice to meet James Agg with his 95 RH. Lovely day!
  9. sorted, the stalks im using are the old ford escort ones with the hazard switch on top. turns out the hazard button is broken and was constantly sending signal to indicators, so i can officially say the whole car electric system is rewired, just a few wires to tidy then ill pop some pictures up
  10. Ok so indicators, why would they constantly flash when even when the stalk is in neutral position, if I switch stalk left or right it makes no difference, it's almost like the stalk indicator wires are getting a constant 12v supply and not breaking of when the switch is not being used
  11. Hi everyone A few months ago I took on the role of looking after the Website. It's taken me some time to get used to the software and I apologise for the couple of times when I crashed the system with my experiments During that time I was helped by Neil Hammond, and my thanks go to him for his assistance. However, he is probably going to leave the Club in the near future and has suggested I find someone else. I'm getting on a bit so there is a remote (I hope) possibility of me popping my clogs. As such, we really need someone who can step into the breach. You don't have to be a computer whiz kid, you just need to be reasonably computer literate, most of the job involves amending the options within the software. A understanding of HTML and Javascript would be useful but not essential. Anyone feel like taking it on ?
  12. Hello My name is Charlie Garvie, I joined the club last year, but due to work commitments I haven't been active during this time, after receiving my membership renewal recently, it has spurred me in to action and given me a kick start to get my car back on the road. I took the car for an MOT last year but it failed on excessive play in the steering rack, the garage have tried to source a new rack, but they aren't having any luck I'm afraid so, was looking for some help/advice to source this. I have a MAC1 type ZR built around 2010 in by MAC#1 Motorsports, Unit 14 Portland Business Park, Handsworth, Sheffield S13 8HS who unfortunately are no longer trading, the donor car was a ford Sierra and on the build schedule they say that they used the rack from the car with some modification but no more info, the garage have tried their usual steering rack provider, they can't identify the rack, all they could tell us was they think the rack has been shortened. I would really appreciate it if anyone could give me any pointers as to where to source a new rack or a company who could refurb, I'm in Glasgow but happy to ship the rack to any part of the country, Kind Regards Charlie
  13. Turns out May was our best month for some time. As usual a few members didn't renew, in this case 6 of them, but the really good news is that we welcome 10 new members. Hopefully as Summer rolls on we can keep up the momentum. So here they are (username, location and Area Sec). Its to weather dependent for me so I will pass on this. Cheers
  16. Yesterday
  17. I think I've found the correct pinout for these stalks so if anyone needs the correct pins for a mk5 escort stalk then here it is
  18. Some club members are camping over at the showground tonight so they'll be there tomorrow.
  19. Right I'm at my witts end now, don't suppose anyone has a diagram for this type of stalk, I'm 99%sure I have it correct but I can't get the indicators to work, so I have Pin L4 (power to stalk) Pin L6 (earth) Pin L3 and L2 (main beam low beam) Pin L1 (side lights) Pin L11 should be right indicator Pin L5 should be left indicator or vice versa, There's no part numbers on the stalks but I've worked out that it's from either a mk5 escort or fiesta I think, but can't seem to find the pinouts listed anywhere
  20. Are there many people going Sunday
  21. LEDs for cars use 12V. Polatity can be an issue.
  22. Is that the toby carvery off chester Road
  23. Last week
  24. I sometimes feel this sub-forum is pointless for kits - most kits have a completely unique electrical system and it's almost impossible to help remotely. My wiring loom is half of the GBS system and half my own design - no-one is going to work it out Having said that, a halogen and LED in the same unit? Don't LEDs use a lower voltage, so they should be on separate circuits? Also, LEDs are polarity sensitive- maybe 12v in the wrong polarity is keeping the LEDs on and preventing the halogen coming on? Dunno, I would get a multimeter on the wires and see what voltages you're getting...
  25. So update for today, I officially thought I had all headlights, Brake lights etc done, ticked off the list, finished, every single light circuit is on a relay, only sidelights are leds and they will be controlled by a switch on the dash once it's all done, car now starts from the key instead of the big red start button, great I'll pack the crimp tool and connectors away and move onto fitting the new carpet, but before I do that I'll get the misses to just stand at the back of the car and double check lights, so rear lights come on with high beam, low beam, sidelights, great all good. Let me just double check the rear lights stay on if I switch my high beam onto constant full (stalk pused forward with lights on) front works perfect but the rear lights go out, but they don't go out if I pull the lever as if I was flashing to signal someone, racking my brains I could not find a solution, I tried running 2 separate cables from the rear, 1 for high beam 1 for low beam, but then because I had affectively created one big circuit I had high beam, low beam, rear lights all on and the flasher didn't work, so back to the drawing board, going to try a holdover relay setup in the morning
  26. Fuse box would be my next check. A lot of cars have 4 fuses for the headlights Left Main, Left Dip, Right Main & Right Dip. If you do not know which fuse systematicaly remove one at a time to check if blown put good fuse back and check the next one.
