    Electrickery

I am guessing that the wire from the coil to the tacho has worn through its insulation at some point. Try disconnecting from the back of the tacho and again check for shorts, problem with this is often disconnecting a wire moves loom and hides the short so try to move as little as possible when checking.

    Exhaust Manifold?

Robin hood manifold normally went down then through the side panel. Could be a bugger to fit. On mine take the head manifold studs out, then fiddle about for ages to either remove or fit the manifold. I do wonder about boiling fluid as new fluid has to get really hot to boil, would flushing the fluid fix?
  3. Remember that the main thing you do replacing brake fluid is to remove the build up of water in the fluid. Water boils and removes braking so it is a good thing to remove water. The water is dissolved on the fluid (except DOT5) so changing the fluid dilutes the amount of water but some will always be there, the trick is to keep the amount low.
  4. Just be careful reversing over curbs. Mud flap trapped between wheel and kerb will detach a lot
  5. For some reason I do not understand the cortina based kit had the front axle turned round. This could be your problem.

    New To Robin Hood

Odd my roll over hoop is over the boot not the engine bay.
  7. Maplin is dying which is a bit of a sod for this as their switch cleaner is good. Oxidized contacts are a probable cause and a spray with switch cleaner into the guts followed by waggling normally cures. <https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/contact-cleaners/1014937/>or similar should work.
  8. All oil pressure switches are closed at no pressure and open between 10 and 15 psi. Sounds like you need a new switch. Remove the switch and now you really have no pressure check the switch again to see if there is a short from terminal to body.
  9. Oil pressure light is not a regulatory requirement.
  10. I can get mine in and out after removing the studs from the head and loosening the exhaust side engine mount. A bit of a fiddle but doable.
  11. cant help thinking that HS2 is another political vanity project
  12. Quick answer is no damage in the short term. But risk of burnt valves if run for too long and too far out, but i think that you would notice lack of tick over. This only applies to standard ford cam, an after market cam with more lift might make it an interference engine.
  13. Nice show but attendance definitely down. I enjoyed the hog roast. But looking at the number of buildings being demolished I wonder what the future of the site is.

    Which Coil?

I am under the impression that all sierras had electronic ignition. Certainly the 2l NET pinto from my 83 doner had electronic ignition with a bosch distributor. These used a low resistance coil and controlled the curent in the electronic module to avoid burning out the coil.
  15. I have a smiths gauge working fine with a 83 2L sierra sender. It uses the normal smiths voltage regulator (8Volts) rather than the ford 10Volt reg.

    First Post - Wipers !

I had a very early mini. single speed wiper and parking was where you switched off, I believe that self park was only fitted after a couple of years production. It did have a heater which was an extra cost option for many years.

    Mot's

My view is that a lot of the cheep MOT places see it as a loss leader to lucrative repairs. Buy cheep buy twice. My local MOT charges max price but is very helpful in on the spot adjustments and a pass.

    Full Beam Flash

If the light in the dash does not light then the indicator bulb needs its own earth. This might be shared with the stalk flasher and needs to be found and reconnected after you had the dash out.

    Full Beam Flash

What loom? Could be as simple as a blown fuse.

    Bmw X1

Yes you can change nose weight by moving goods around in the van. BUT most vans I have checked have very little load capacity, manufactures plated max weight is often only 50 to 75 Kg above delivered weight. When you add gas cylinders, Plates, cutlery, glasses, rain gear, boots etc. you are often overweight.

    Warning Lights Wiring

LED can be made to work, just takes a bit of fiangling. easiest way for ignition light is to have 2 LEDs in that position. Wire in parallel but with the second LED the other way round (flat facing the other way)

    Warning Lights Wiring

LED not bi directional. Clue Light Emitting Diode. A diode only works one way. Ignition on old type system needs to work both ways Oil pressure switch shorts to earth so needs a switched live feed. Later sierras had headlight switches connect the earth so warning light needed a switched live feed as well.
