#377174 Mikuni R1 Carb Problems... Help!

Posted by DanE on 22 September 2017 - 06:17 AM

What sizes jets you need is guess work, I used fireblade carbs on my pinto with 1.40mm mains standard idle jets and blocked air correctors. If it was me I would find a standard carb set up for now. Bike carbs can be a diffecult thing to set up at the best of time, the only real way to get decent results is to find a rolling rd with a decent operator who understands bike carbs. When set up right they are perfectly good. Would I use them again ? Probably not. Good luck

#377129 Zetec And Electric Water Pump Still Overcooling

Posted by DanE on 20 September 2017 - 08:12 PM

I've been in talks with them after the generic email and having a discussion with demon tweeks who seem to have contacted them. I received a large email from DC with an apology and a large list of questions on my set up & specs. I answered everything which they then passed on to there chief engineer, they have concluded I need the ewp 80 and there other controller. I maybe miss reading there email but I think they are sending out new kit from Oz.if this then turns out to be the case then that is top customer service ! Either way they do now seem to be interested in solving the issues...

#376761 Supercharger Boost Control

Posted by DanE on 06 September 2017 - 05:31 PM

Started a new project today to try and tame the boost when trying to cruise @70mph. The idea is using a Mac 3port solenoid boost controller and a mini vacuum pump. The plan is when I switch to economy map it will switch the valve over so the plenum vac line to bypass valve is closed stopping boost pressure at the same time the mini vacuum pump then pulls the bypass valve open thus stopping boost. Hopefully then I will be able to drive at 70mph without boosting to warp speed all the time... Will update when I have made and fitted it all.

#376526 2L Blacktop Zetec Turbo

The end bhp is irrelevant if you boost more than the 11psi it will be an early grave for the zetec. But 240 should be achieved
I.m running arp Conrod bolts

Think about the torques that's where the smiles come from

Oh steamer 243.6 i.ll have you know

#375628 More Power

Posted by DanE on 31 July 2017 - 10:41 AM

there is so much more to consider, its not just a case of bolt on a turbo and off you go, to do it right to any sort of standard costs money. what ecu you are going to run, mega squirt, omex canems, me221, dyno tech, all are going to cost a fair few quid, the cheaper the ecu the more messing around will be involved to get it working to any decent standard my canems cost around £750 with wiring, plugs and sensors. then a further £400 on the dyno to get it mapped. your cooling will unlikely be able to cope with the extra heat from the extra bhp so another few hundred ££ for a decent rad, how good is your gearbox? a tired standard type 9 will soon give up with all the extra power and torque, is your diff and prop in good condition? are your brakes up to it? will you clutch take it, my uprated pinto clutch cost near £400

within a week of putting mine on the rd i had to upgrade the diff to a quaife atb slip to stop the car going sideways everytime i opened the throttle...

Not trying to put you off, but having just completed a supercharger conversion the cost was way more than 1st anticipated the resulting car is very very quick, the project was fun challenging and frustrating all in one so if you have time money and determination go for it just a lot of research 1st
