Go to the post office. It is surprising how much they can actually still do there. I had to change the tax class on my new daily from Disabled back to PLG which DVSA kept saying "send the V5 plus another form and another form and fees etcetc then we will send it out to you" Was meant to allow 4-6 weeks for the V5 to arrive, then had to send off this new change of tax class stuff which could take a further 6 weeks. Before you know it, my new car could have been sat waiting for all this to come through for 3 months! I'm waiting for them to change it again. Thankfully having bought 2 cars under these new laws I have not been caught out waiting for the new V5 or struggling to tax a car (this 2nd one getting close), but to do it by the book in theory have to buy the car and ask the seller to hold on to it for another 4-6 weeks before you can actually collect it! Either way, having purchased tax Friday and driving 160miles over the weekend, I'm waiting for an ANPR camera to flag up no tax whilst their system updates.

I'd be tempted to break it myself.....I have a habit of doing that... I'll pm you my email for some pictures if thats ok? I might use it to do up my 1990 mx5 which I'm considering selling or breaking lol

Is it a magnetic sensor or just proximity? The proximity one I have must be something like 2mm from the pick up so could just be a few mm out of position if its been moved. Just a separate thought, should the speed sensor pick up from the driven wheels i.e. the rear? Sure that was something that was asked on my IVA test when setting up for the speed check...

Theducks Build To Date In (Not So) Brief (Anymore)
WallerZ replied to theduck's topic in Build Threads
He's joined the Wales trip a week late lol. And racing a train...on foot... Last i got from Stu is he still needs to do the bracing and another little job. Not a lot but his work is keeping him busy recently i think -
Wow, you must be powering the whole street with a monthly direct debit like that! Mine is done by cash quarterly (being students at the time), they send 4 bills for varying periods of which some overlapped and others recalculated periods already paid for to actual readings. Then begun the arguments. "actual readings must be paid, no we won't explain it to you, no we wont give a reason whats happened, nothing you can do but pay" variety of different reasons for why I was been rebilled for periods, never had a straight answer, complaints opened but then closed without action been taken. Eventually got the Ombudsman involved who came with a 5th explanation of what happened. Basically said the accounts were recalculated from the beginning of my time with them (about just over a year earlier) but still didn't explain why the costs had increased on actual bills. Accepted their findings (not much choice unless I wanted to go to court over it), SP were 6 days late with what they were told to do, which I then also rejected as completely unsatisfactory, incomplete and borderline insulting, haven't heard anything since raising this with the Ombudsman again during their follow up call and that was 2 weeks ago.....still having to use SP provided gas and electric whilst this drags out.

I'm waiting for the Ombudsman to resolve an issue with Scottish Power thats been ongoing since December 2014. I can't leave or change as there is a disputed debit on the account apparently :/ I'll be moving soon so they better hurry up their decisions!

You won't need an MOT immediately after IVA if that is what you mean? I re-taxed my Zero in May, built on an age related plate (H-Reg using mx5 donor), but the Zero was shown as first registered March 2014. From everything I read, the law is from first registration so if the V5 says under 3 years, you'll be fine I've not had any issues and there are people who are in 2nd or 3rd years of it with no issues. After 3rd year its back to yearly as per usual

Don't worry Vic, I've got a spare seat in the DeLorean if you wanted to go to this one? haha

I have seen the tracking ones before but the massive price tag, well it's not that big of a desire haha. I think it would be pretty awesome getting some aerial footage of a track day....not sure it would be allowed but would be a good laugh. If I took it out on the road I'd either escape its range or forget its up there for when the battery runs out!

I need someone who is experienced in flying a drone and able to track a moving vehicle, maybe even whilst in the moving vehicle. Yes the vehicle is my Zero....any takers? http://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/gg-groupon-goods-global-gmb-h-144-212

I had to google it, but it was worth the chuckle haha

Yes that's me, probably heading off for my session at 12.30 your car looks great in person, think I've only ever seen in on your blog and it didn't disappoint! Shame I didn't get to catch up with you

I got my Dad a track session at Castle Combe in the Zero he's always asked when he can drive it and I think he enjoyed it so much I may have converted him to wanting a weekend/track car! Unfortunately he is liking the looks of the Cobra replicas.....which is on my to-do list!
-
Another big thank you for organising it! I had a brilliant time getting the Zero on the track for the first time (may have caught the bug...) plus it gave my Dad a chance drive the Zero for the first time ever too which he thoroughly enjoyed! Although it has annoyed my Mum as he is now looking at possibly getting himself a weekend/track toy too! Looking back at my gopro videos, I reckon I got a lap in around the 1 minute 30 mark, I'm quite pleased with that for the first time on track and will look to beat that next year with the V6 installed Oh, and to the person asking about brake pipes, the place I got them was Furore Products (http://furoreproducts.co.uk/9-brake-hoses)

I'll be watching the first one to see what they do with it. I don't expect to be impressed and anticipate an attempt to try recreate what happened before, maybe cutting the more expensive or potentially offensive bits. I think the show will change completely as Clarkson, Hammond and May turned it from a car review show into an entertainment show. I didn't watch it to find out which car I should buy when I have a 9-5 job, a wife and 3 kids and a dog for a camping trip to Dorset. I watched it for the entertainment value, pushing the social boundaries and doing stupid/crazy road trips and stunts. Yes a lot was probably staged, but thats what you do to stop it from becoming a documentary about 3 friends who go and do daft things and challenges with cars that should fail. I'm more keen to see what the old guys can/will do and wait for the BBC to open up a court case on their actions...

I'll be there, some of us are more committed than others haha

6inch!!! I thought 2inch would be ok...they were not. They have no clamping force (if you're talking about the spring clamps like I used - http://www.screwfix.com/p/forge-steel-spring-clamps-6-pack-of-2/1964c) they worked very well for what I needed

I used Crossby Insurance for my first year 21 on a 1.6 Mazda Zero (115bhp). They quoted me about £480 for 9k miles, worth a look as your first year, once you have that Flux will be a lot cheaper as many won't touch you in the first year with no comparable RWD experience I found. Adrian Flux this year at 22, same car, quoted me for £360 and A-Plan at over £450. And thats with a "fault" claim (someone hit my parked car and drove off).

Send him a link for the plate too

I think my tester roughly checked.....Can you not send it back to the engraver and get them to re-do it? Especially if you told them 3.5mm?
-
Give me 12 months, you might have a Mazda V6 to supercharge lol

I have a MX5 powered Zero and exactly the same mx5 that I used as a donor. Both cars are great fun and great to drive....It's just that the Zero has had a 500kg weight loss programme lol. Mx5 engines are pretty bulletproof and will happily take boost too, as Steamer has shown
