My Pinto engine needs reconditioning and at the same time I would like it worked on to get the output up to about 130bhp. OCS at Winchester and Brett Sims at New Milton look promising but has anyone had personal experience of their work? Any comments on the above or other recommendations will be appreciated.

Evening all. Not been on for a while so its good to be back. I haven't been able to sort the car out as I have had an illness for the past few years but all ok now. The car is running megasquirt ecu with GBS plenum. I keep finding conflicting views so I would like your knowledge on this. Can I run it without a cat and lambda sensor. It has past it iva with both. The reason I ask this as I am in the process of rebuilding the car after a strip down. Regards Graham

All, As I am now in the final stages of this long winded nut and bolt rebuild/major upgrade - if it isn't the chassis, it has been replaced/upgraded - and am looking for one point of either advice or confirmation. I am using a Owen Developments 54 frame GBT turbo and am draining the oil from turbo via -10 line to sump via one of the scavenge ports and letting the scavenge pump back to tank. What are your thoughts on this? Any help/thoughts will be gratefully received. Thanks Craig

Hi, There are many threads on here regarding plumbing so I just wanted to get a clear idea of what is required. I am about to refit my engine it have now removed the heater as it did not work and took up too much space behind the dash. I have a new header tank to fit and am after some info on plumbing. My thermostat housing just has the one 32mm outlet, rad top and bottom outlet with a small I let/outlet at the top for header/expansion bottle. Am I correct in thinking I need to do the following Bottom hose to lower water pump Top Hose to thermostat Blank off small water pump outlet (used to go to heater) Small top rad outlet to top of header tank Bottom of…

All, I hope you are all finding solace in your respective builds while this pandemic is raging. I started my nut and bolt rebuild to my GBS Std last December - with the rear end done and finished in no time with a completely new rear end, suspension, diff, drive shafts and hubs and brakes, I started on the front end. With the all of the suspension sorted in no time, I started on the engine bay. A refreshed hybrid ST170 block with RST pistons and steel rods ARP bolts, ported flowed BT cylinder head etc to make for a really strong engine. I have been beset by problem after problem with components being too large or not the right size - you know the gagg. One thing…

I am servicing a DFTH 30/34, it was well used and then been sitting around for a long time so its got a bit of corrosion on top of tar on the surfaces. All is going well so far, I have obtained a service kit and am helped by the exploded view that is attached below. I am puzzled by something. I see the automatic choke and how the bi-metal coil will unwind pressure on the choke butterfly etc this is item 4 in the diagram. I also see a part, item 14, which contains a diaphragm that is not in the service kit. Item 14 appears to be intimately involved with the choke, mounted at right angles to the bi-metal coil axis. I have not dissasembled this yet. Does anyone know what thi…

Hi guys, can you show and tell me how your fans look. I will try get a picture tomorrow to show you mine but suspect theyr're similar. Obviously the radiator is at a bit of an angle with the fan on the opposite side of the cross section. It is very close at the bottom but nowhere near at the top. When I put my hand between the fan and radiator it's not very effective. I get that I could build a shroud to channel air, change the rad/fan, better coolant etc just looking for opinions from the group. The viscous fan is there, I'm thinking it will draw some hot air from the engine and it'll go out bonnet vents but is it worth keeping? 2.0 pinto, I'm no…

Hi guys, ive recently acquired a Tiger super 6 running a 2l Pinto and ZXR carbs. the air filter needs replacing as its has started to degrade. being a bit of a newby to bike carbs im a bit confused by my options, it currently has a Pipercross sausage and i'm curious about replacing it with 4 separate mini filters for instance, something that performs well but also looks good, i find the sausage filters a bit uggers... what have others done? Thanks!

After the run out at ESOB I put my car on the trailer and delivered it to Red Seven Engineering at Ripley. He quickly got the engine removed and Dean was kind enough to help install the reconditioned type9 v6 gearbox with heavy duty bearings.

Hi all, to get E5 fuel for my standard 2.0 EFi Pinto, I'm now running on 98 or 99 octane fuel. Just wondered if anyone had tried advancing their timing with that set up? I wondered if the ECU and engine would be able to take advantage of the higher octane or not?!

Hi all, first post so apologies if it's been mentioned before. Currently resurrecting my 2005 superspec back to life after being garaged for many years. The fuel pump had seized and blew fuses on any attempt to free it etc. Fitted a replacement today and she fired up first time. If it's any help to fellow owners the details are: Stark SKFU-0410032. Length 191,. Width 120, height 120.

Hi all. Got my engine back and installed in March this year. Had some ignition teething issues ive now sorted. Mot passed and first few Miles its been perfect. Now for 5 mins im hearing a dull knocking sound somewhere in the engine. Cant pinpoint it ive went round all nuts n bolts i can looking for something loose. The noise fades once warmed up whilst idling but i can hear it when im out driving. Im reluctant to drive it more in fear of doing serious damage. Is there a common (bedding in) period for a rebuilt engine thats common? Im limited in my knowledge therefor reluctant to start breaking open the engine and new seals. Any info would be apprec…
