Hello I have fitted CBR1100 carbs to my 2.0L Pinto and I am in the process of building an airbox. On the carbs there are three tubes that I presume are breathers. I was wondering what other people did with them? Should I put them in the airbox? Thanks Graeme

Good morning all, I have a new problem which after a few weeks of trying I can’t resolve and wondered if anyone had any ideas. basically when I turn the ignition on and the fuel system primes itself, the pipe going from the high pressure pump to the fuel rail pops off the fuel rail. I tried a new clip and seemed to work for a week but yesterday same thing happened. yeaterday I changed the pipe so it’s now a new piece of pipe, new clips and it seemed ok. This morning it popped off again. As it’s MOT day I’ve secured it with a zip tie around the clip and the rail to hold it and it works but certainly not ideal or right. anyone any ideas pleas…

  7. During the original (rushed) build I removed the sensor for low engine oil level from the block and tapped a wooden round peg in the round hole. Now, during a rebuild I have more time to consider... should I properly seal the hole, which kept weeping oil .. or reinstate the oil level warning sensor. To be honest I am thinking that it is not needed and just one more thing to leak or go wrong and I am not sure if it is just a single point sensor or a gradual sensor. So before I throw it away I was wondering if anyone else has fitted/used this sensor and has some experience to share.

Hi all, So after 2 years off the road, I have gotten round to getting my robin hood back on the road. Passed mot after a new set of spark plugs cleaned the emissions up. However the engine is running poorly, it only revs to around 3000rpm and once there makes a horrible vibration noise. When driving it won't go above 60/65 mph. I don't know exactly what work has been done on the engine before I got it, and I am not an expert engine person, but the specs are below: 2L pinto , maybe has been bored out to 2.1. It's not a '205' block. Kent fr32 cam. Was told it will run on unleaded. Weber 32/36 carb with electric choke. I don't know what jets ar…

Appreciate any help and advice from anyone who has a Pinto with bike carbs. Engine is a 2L Pinto, Single Overhead High Torque (FR 30) Cam, Carbs are Mikuni from a ZX-6R J Ninja (2000-2002) and a Megajolt ignition system. RH 2B Plus on a rolling road showed fuel /air ratio was far to lean even though jets drilled to 180. Eventually drilled to 210, however, torque and fuel drop off at 4750 rpm. Currently Needle jets fitted are 5E18 (outside - 1 & 4 cylinders) and 5E19 (inside 2 & 3 cylinders) and no longer available and advised needle profile needs adjusting/changing. I would be pleased to hear your recommended jet sizes, needle profile/code and …

After fitting bike carbs to my 2,0 pinto i fitted a burtons elbow valve into the crankcase in place of the original breather and piped it to inlet of catch tank, the outlet of catch tank is just vented below car, however on first journey out I was left with a puddle of oil under car and dripping back home to garage, the Oil catch tank is virtually level with the crankcase elbow and the catch tank was empty. Should the catch tank be fitted lower than elbow or higher? one friend says lower but a diagram I saw on this forum from Burtons had it fitted above rocker cover height

Hey guys, One little thing I want to iron out with my car, everything else seems good. When driving along, if I am cruising with my foot barely on the throttle she coughs through the carbs, I assume this is something to do with the switch from idle to main jets? Difference to big or something like this? Runs well at idle and runs well when accelerating/ keeping some power on for hills, just happens when floating on the peddle, say cruising through town at 30mph or similar.... Any advice is much appreciated.

Car all ready for MOT ..... and it wont turn over, just a loud 'click' from solenoid, all connections & earths checked and OK, so time for a replacement..... but struggling to get correct unit, it appears as though there are 5 variants for the 2L and I'm struggling to get correct one (Lucas), now awaiting 'special order' delivery from europarts 🥴

I am planning to swap out the 1800 pinto that is in my Exmo at some point next winter and was wondering what people thought would be the best replacement? I have a 2.8 ford cologne v6 that is in bits in the garage but needs restoring, having looked into costs, I think it would be around £3k to get it restored to how I would like (re-bore to 3ltr). Given that it would probably still be under 200bhp, albeit sounding very nice, I am wondering what other options I could go for on this budget?

My 2b Sierra 2.0 DOHC EFI, isn’t running properly hunts really badly at idle I have to keep my foot slightly on the revs at lights or feels like it’s going to cut out, standard Ford ecu fitted, bottoms out at just under 80mph, any ideas welcome…….. I don’t want to spend mad money as I’m planning a engine conversion for winter

Coming home today after a nice drive and some spirited driving my superspec was very violently jumping and shaking the car in 1st gear and when reversing into the garage it was jerki g back and forth making it harder to control at slow speed. When driving gently the car goes into gear smoothly but when accelerating to motorway speeds the car takes an absolute age to go in to gear if chooses to go in. What could be causing this. It's the rover engine mated to a Ford gearbox
